Panthers Beat Stars: Women’s FA Cup 1st Round

Last night [Mar.8] the Women’s Football FA Cup first round got underway at the BFA Field, with the Panthers beating United Stars 4-1.

The United Stars went in front in the 2nd minute when Keisha Smith outpaced the Panthers defense and slipped the ball pass and advancing Terry-Lynn Paynter in goal. Five minutes later the scores were level, Rickelle Smith’s shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net. Nicole Jones then scored what proved to be the Panthers winner in the 25th minute, after she pickeded the ball up just outside the box with her back to the goal and a defender on her, and was able to roll the defender and shoot low to the United Stars goalkeepers right and into the back of the net.

Lee-Anne Yates made it 3 -1 to the Panthers in the 45th minute and then in the 55th minute Tshana Wade collected the ball just outside the United Stars box beating the offside trap and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net for the 4 – 1 win and sent the Panthers into the Women’s FA Cup Semi-Final Draw.
