Photo Set #2: Beach Tennis Tournament
The 4th annual ITF International Beach Tennis Tournament Finals were played today [Aug. 29] at the Horseshoe Bay Beach.
Spectators who braved the windy conditions were treated to a quality women’s final which was an all Italian affair that saw the favorites Simona Bonadonna and Eva D’Elia go down in three sets to Laura Olivieri and Simona Briganti.
Olivieri and Briganti looked very comfortable in the first set winning 6 – 2 leaving Bonadonna and D’Elia looking very frustrated with one another. In the second set Bonadonna and D’Elia fought back to win 7 – 5 to send it to an all-important third and final set where Olivieri and Briganti edged out the win 7 – 6.
Italians Alex Mingozzi and Matteo Marighella won their 3rd Bermuda title winning the men’s final. Mingozzi with an overwhelming show of power serves and the skill of Marighella at the net was too good for fellow countrymen Paolo Garavini & Marco Tavzari.
Mingozzi and Marighella defeated Garavini and Tavzari in straight sets 6 – 0, 6 – 4.
