Two Men Charged With Robbery

August 31, 2011

This morning [Aug.31] two men appeared in Magistrates Court in connection with the robbery and assault on August 27 in the Hermitage Road area.

26-year-old Ezra Arrarat and 25-year-old Ezra Williams were charged with robbing a couple of a BlackBerry Torch cell phone and gold jewelry. The defendants were also charged with possessing a knife.

The half-brothers – who appeared to have arm injuries – were not required to enter pleas as the matter can only be heard in the Supreme Court. They were remanded to reappear at a later date.

After the incident a police spokesperson said, “Around 8:45pm on Saturday, police responded to a reported robbery in the Hermitage Road, Devonshire area. It appears that the victims, a man in his 20s and a teenage girl, were sitting in a parked car in the area when they were attacked by a group of unknown men brandishing bladed articles.”

“Afterward their assailants fled the scene with a quantity of jewelry and a cellular phone. The victims were treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital; the teenage girl’s injuries were examined and she was subsequently released while the male victim remains at the hospital receiving medical attention for a leg wound.”

“Two men in their 20s were arrested at the hospital in connection with this incident after seeking treatment for hand injuries.”

    • Eastern says:

      @Sonesta Kid, trees & Joonya
The stocks and pillaries in St. George are still usable and much cheaper for the tax payer than jail.

    • 80s Sonesta Kid says:

      WOW….yur jokin right?

      • SexyBlacque says:

Norlicia, it appears your son’s father prefers spending time in jail than spending time with his son. Your son will be alright. Keep it real with him no matter what. He will survive.

    • mixitup says:

I agree, clearly his son is not a priority. Time to move it along, but shower that kid with all the love attention and support that you can. Best wishes!

    • Street talk says:

Norlicia, we all understand what your going through, but a pretty lady like yourself should have known what you were getting yourself into when dealing with him. Especially when you got pregnant, now you have to bear the brunt of the situation.

This isnt directed towards you but these young women/teenagers nowadays are tricked by the “popular” boys from High school and it takes a few years later to realize they are a “aint shyt” type of man. That is what’s sad!

  7. Kim Smith says:

Are the ‘gold for cash’ operations in Bermuda regulated in any way… or can anyone walk in with gold jewellry and get cash… with no questions asked?

    • it is what it is says:

Picture ID is required for EVERY transaction and they have pictures of stolen jewellry so no Kim it is not as easy as one might think…..

      • Young Girl says:

excuse me it is what it is. what the hell photo id have to do with it? That dont help. My house got broken into and took all my gold. Just so happened we knew who the person was that broke into my house and my parent went to these cash for gold dudes and asked if the burglar had been there. And they had the nerve to say “oooo so and so is a frequent costumer”. They should be smart enough to know that some scruffy lookin crackhead cant afford all this gold. They just being damn greedy!!!!!! Oooo and pictures takin of stolen jewelry? my jewelry was NEVER returned because it was sent off that same day! So dont listen to that Cash for Gold Guidline crap! all a bunch of bs!

    • MinorMatters says:

I suggest that CCTV be installed in front of this nasty operation to record the people that go there since the operators of this company don’t appear to want to do anything meaningful about receiving stolen goods.

And, if it can be proven that stolen merchandise was pawned at this place, the operators should be charged with RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY otherwise known as “Fencing”.

  8. Jus' Askin' says:

Two is not a group. So where are the others that were invloved?

      Guess “Three’s” not company………

      So what’s ‘two’…..A Pair?

      Pairs are ….never mind…..

      • Jus' Askin' says:

So you feel a group is two and no others were involved? FYI – I would say two is a couple as well ;-)

        • Terry says:

          Hey ‘Jus’…..If the pair don’t fit….You must aquit……:+)…..

    • LIz says:

She appeared in court this morning. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded her into custody until September 14 when her matter will be joined with her co-accused.

  9. Dawn de Toilet says:

Its time to bring the “cane” or “cat o nine tails” back or bring out the dunking stool. Actually bring all three back. These criminals or those involved with criminal activities have it way too easy punishment wise. Its time we bring back punishment instead of the easy life they have at casemates.

  10. Fed up Somerset says:

I am glad that these perpetrators are being caught. I hope more people fight for what is theirs instead of being intimidated by these low down worthless thugs. If they want the best of things they need to go and get a job like everyone else does.I hope the judge shows no mercy and gives them the maximum sentence.

    • Terry says:

Don’t fight for sh!t. Give it up. The irony is…why are you displaying it.

You know how much that chain can gain……………………

  11. Oh Noes! says:

It’s better than Ezra! It’s two Ezras!

  12. Shut Yo Mouth says:

Williams brothers playing doubles on a clay court are pretty darn hard to Beat , but I guess they got whooped this time . I wonder if their daddy taught them how to play that racket ?

  13. Idiots says:

What a bunch of idiots…they both deserve a news years in jail.

  14. LOL says:

LMAO I just knew it had to be someone stupid and those two are the true definition of stupid. Don’t try to understand or fix these two they are just plain dumb and they can’t be fixed.

  15. Candy says:

Ezzie and E.J. when are you fools going to grow up and stop being so stupid. Don’t you guys get tired of going jail. Sort yourselves out. My dear you are like Dumb and Dumber.

  16. De Warwick Bye says:

They need to make all these thugs dance like the Filipino prisoners to Justin Bieber or Glee-like numbers. Also they should be forced to stand and wave while shackled in pink jumpsuits to passing cars like Johnny Barnes. We will see who wants to go back to jail again after these two situations.

    • Natalie B says:

You sound like an ignorerant fool! I really would love to know what your dumb idea would accomplish but lower the inmates self esteem. What Bermuda government needs to think about is why so many people are going back to jail for the same type of crimes. There needs to rehabilitation for thoes who seem to need more help then just a punishment. Maybe some people need mental help and if that’s the case…they can be sent to jail over and over again and it won’t solve anything. Everyone deserves mental help if that’s what they need and some people might need a program to help them through their problems when they get out of jail. People don’t change over night…its a process and if you are put back in the same environment you left from it will just make it even harder. I don’t condone anything Ezzy and Ej do. However I think if people spent more time trying to get to the root of problem then just criticizing and making a mockery of people you might get a better result. To all you people that are just making jokes I hope one day its not one of you that are in a similar predicament.

      • Rick Rock says:

Typical. Why are you so interested in preserving the ‘self esteem’ of knife-weilding thugs? Warwick Bye was trying to suggest a way to deter crime. You think ‘rehabilitation’ is the answer? How many times have these idiots been given another chance? Google their names. They have had their chances. This time the courts should throw the freakin book at them if found guilty. Let them rot in jail for decades. At least that way maybe the rest of us will be a bit safer.

        • Natalie B says:

          Rick Rock,
I know exactly what they have done and I don’t condone their behavior. However we can’t be so simple minded assume that jail is for everyone. If we continue to throw everyone in jail who does wrong with out taking a deeper look as to why they do it, then the jails will be so full they will eventually have to let criminals out anyways. Which is happening right now. There is a difference between chances and rehabilitation. A second chance means nothing if you have mental issues…because you will continue to do the same thing. Rehabilitation can include mental help as well as doing community service, getting job training, and maybe a higher education. I never said they shouldn’t pay for their crimes but after they do, they still need help. A lot of young people in Bermuda need help and they don’t get it. When they get neglected they end up like this. I know the nice side of Ezzy and I have seen the good he can do. Bermuda needs to find more ways to help their convicted felons get adjusted back into society. Self esteem is the biggest problem because if these boys had good self esteem, they would care more about their lives. I am suggesting things that may help create a better citizen because jail obviously isn’t working.

          • Rick Rock says:

            Natalie,
They are worthless low life scum bags. We should let them know that, regardless of what it might do to their ‘self esteem’.

IM SAYIN ….THEY WAZ WRONG 4 WHAT THEY DONE OR HAVE BEEN DOING OVER THE YEARZ,BUT SOCIETY HAS BEEN GIVIN THEM SHIT SINCE DAY 1 AND NEVER GAVE THEM A CHANCE WHEN THEY DID TRY 2 CHANGE. .I WAZ THE SAME WAY A FEW YEARZ BACK ,I WAZ GOING NOWHERE FAST, BUT RIGHT BEFORE I WAZ ABOUT 2 SHOW THE WORLD, THE PAIN IT WAZ SHOWING ME, A DOOR OPENED AND SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT I HAVE 2 MUCH POTENTIAL 2 WAIST…IT USED 2 BE MY NAME ON THE NEWS AND IN THE PAPER ..TRUST ME I WAZ THUGGED WAAY OUT..BUT NOT ANYMORE….BASICALLY WHAT IM TRYING 2 SAY IZ.. IF A PERSON KNOWZ NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, U ARE GOING 2 RIDICULE THEM AND CALL THEM RATS, EVENTUALLY THEY ARE GOING 2 SHOW U HOW HARD THE RAT BITEZ..EZZY AN EJ SHOWED THE WORLD LOVE AND THE WORLD AND THE WORLD SPIT IN THIER FACE..SO THATS Y THEY DNT GIVE A FFFFFF…I WAZ TALKING 2 EZZY LAST WK AND HE DOES MISS HIS YUTE…………… REMEMBER U ALL DO YA DIRT 2 WE JUS DNT KNOW ABOUT IT YET….PEACE

  18. Natalie B says:

Just for the record..Ezzy did spend time with his son when he was out and he loves his son. He might not be doing all he can and I don’t like that but he did stuff with his son when he was out. I know this will hurt his son because his son loves his father deeply..So I think we should lay off the topic of Ezzy’s relationship with his son. All you people that are just making jokes abd trying to make a mockery out of Ezzy and Ej…Go Get A Life you sound real stupid. This doesn’t just affect them it affects their families too! Making a mockery out of someone only shows how ignorant and immature you are!

  19. Bella Believer says:

Big Up Yaself Cedar Park. You know what it is. All these bermudian hypocrites wanna do is ridicule and judge everybody else. F you people. You want to judge, judge yourself.
