Police Investigate Reported Shooting
[Updated] At approximately 8.45pm last night [Dec.8], there were reports of possible gunshots in the St. John’s Road, Pembroke area by the Dandy Town Club. As of 10pm last night, the area was clear, with no visible signs of a Police presence.
As of this morning, Police have not yet confirmed whether this was the case, however unofficial sources indicate it sounded like shots were fired, the incident was reported to Police and that no one was injured.
Update 6.08pm: The Police confirm that there was an incident at 8.45pm last night, saying it is believed “a firearm was discharged from Bakery Lane into the grounds of Western Stars Club by a gunman on a motorcycle.”
Two men have been arrested for TWOC [taken without owner’s consent - the theft of a motorcycle] and the police said detectives are “examining any linkages between the two incidents.”
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service Serious Crime Unit is investigating a reported shooting incident outside the Western Stars (Dandy Town) Football Club in Pembroke. The incident occurred at about 8:45pm Thursday 8th December, 2011.
“No one was injured in the incident, however it is believed a firearm was discharged from Bakery Lane into the grounds of Western Stars Club by a gunman on a motorcycle. The gunman then entered St. John’s Road and travelled west on that road.
“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of TWOC and detectives are examining any linkages between the two incidents. Detectives are interested in speaking with anyone that may have information relating to, or witnessed this incident.
“Any information received will be treated in confidence. Persons with information should call 247-1219 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.”

Another crime probably committed by two dark men with dark clothing, dark helmet visors on a dark bike with a dark agenda. This is the profile of almost all shootings. Police, do your profiling and go and after two dark men on a dark bike and you just might get the dark guns off the street.

If this keeps up, sooner or later (if not already), an innocent bystander is going to get hit – God help Bermuda if it happens to be say an American Tourist, or the kid of a prominent International Business executive, etc. At that point, you can just flush what’s left of the economy good-bye.

They tell locals from college you don’t have experience, tell us we are not experienced to landscape, paint and construction at these Portuguese ran businesses. What they don’t mention is the cheap labor financial benefits. House 8 of them in a 2 bedroom paying wages that a Bermudian wouldn’t be Able to survive on.

I mean its really sad that every person who is shot isn’t in a gang and doesn’t have any connection to a gang. I mean its so sad. Goodness, all these totally innocent people being shot for no reason other than it is a mistaken identity. So sad….. Why don;t they shoot gang members then pretty soon they’d all be dead and we could live in peace. No they choose to shoot innocent people with no gang connection at all – not even a bit. I mean the victims are apparently not even slightly connected to gangs. So sad. I wonder how the gunmen pick the completely innocent victims??

Wow! The racial undertones are heavy in here. You are being disingenuous if you claim that black males only started being stopped and checked more than whites since the shootings started. Black ppl in Bermuda have ALWAYS been pulled over, watched and checked disproportionately more often than whites. Common sense tells us that if area B is a grey snapper haunt and area A is a grouper haunt then The location that you drop your hook in will determine the kind of fish you catch. I said this to point out the fact that police officers tend to almost exclusively look for offenses in predominantly black neighborhoods. I don’t know if this is a conscious decision or not but I do know that it is the truth and was such long before these shootings began. And no, I’m not telling you hearsay, I’m telling you what I know and have experienced as a former law enforcement officer. And whether you want to believe it or not, there are far more caucasians involved in this drug game than our BPS has ever exposed by way of their selling, trafficking and using. So for the segment of our society that appears to be turning up their self righteous nose at those black males being flaunted in the media…your house is just as dirty as many others except for the most part, the general public hasn’t been allowed to come inside and see the dusty dirty truth!…and it ain’t just white bermudians I’m talking about either because there are some gully expats here covered in dirt as well!
