So Good Friday is not so good again-sort of! These guys can’t keep their guns in their holsters like they can’t keep their d***s in their pants.

    • Not Again! says:

Bahahahaha!!! elgreen, you hit the nail right on the head with that one!!! Once again our small island is being held hostage by thugs!!! We, the people of Bermuda need to take a stand and demand a change in the law!! This is our island!!! We need to take it back. Send these idiots to the States of Jamaica to serve their time and lets see how they like that!!! Or better yet, give them all guns and take them over to one of the islands and let them battle it out there….

    • Not Again! says:

Seriously?!!! Not only is your comment uncalled for, you might want to update your spell check!

  4. Just a few weeks ago the police and government announced that crime in Bermuda was at a multi-year low.

And you just had an expert from the USA come to Bermuda to tell you the police have to cease their unwarranted stop and searches on young black men. Stop making them criminals. hahahaha You’re only a criminal if you’re found to be breaking the law, but don’t let logic dissuade you from a good conspiracy. The next day your Atoorney General comes out and says the police have to ‘stop their abuses’. hahahahaha

How many gun incidents since then?

    • Rory says:

The unwarranted searches have been going on since 2008…. Obviously they do not work. How many guns have they recovered by doing the searches?

      Zero.

      • Hmmmm says:

How much information has been gained from flips. Much!

        • mma says:

Somebody’s been watching too much DEA LOL. You live in bermuda keep your delusions too yourself.

      • jt says:

Not specific enough to the areas and individuals they know they need to be focusing on. Intensify searches in those area and with those individuals. Make life miseable for them.

      • Rick Rock says:

The “unwarranted” searches? Searches are aimed at making life difficult for gangsters and lowlifes. They are the ones who have been stopped and searched most, and they are the ones complaining that they have “been offended” or “picked on” of whatever. Good. Offend them some more. Pick on them all the time. Make their lives as miserable and difficult as possible.

        • Truth says:

Rick Rock, I doubt you know much about the demographic you speak of. These stop and searches havent made things much more difficult for the “gangsters” as they rarely travel outside of their comfort zones. The stop and searches are just another way to generate money through ticketing. The police aren’t retarded, they know they wont catch any “gangsters” this way, but this is how they justify the harassment of innocent members of the public. They do it this way so it appears that they are trying to keep the public safe. if they wanted to catch the guys who are committing murders etc, they’d be down in their neighborhoods watching their every move.

          • Rick Rock says:

I agree the police should be doing everything possible to make lives miserable for gangsters. Surveillance, taking into custody, stop and search, the works. I don’t however agree the current law should be softened, or that the police approach should be softened.

Out of 11,000 searches last year (I think that was the number) I can’t believe it wasn’t targeted. They aren’t ‘random’ searches. If it were a money-making exercise, why wouldn’t they target people likely to be doing something wrong? If they find nothing there’s no fine. So it can’t be a money making exercise if it’s targeting the ‘wrong’ Ii.e. completely innocent) people.

  5. Hmmmm says:

PLP don’t have a clue on reality, they live in fantasy land where debt is free and there are no problems in Bermuda.

    • tricks are for kids says:

Nothing to do with PLP, UBP, OBA, or whomever!!!!! It’s about LIFESTYLES and CHOICES..The WHOLE island (if their heads are not buried in the sand)know NOT to be LEAD INTO A FALSE SENSE of SECURITY by figures on crime that are presented when we are seeing different!!!!!! These INDIVIDUALS are CHOOSING to do what they do!!!!!!!!!! As annoying as it may seem, “It is what it is!’

  6. Truth is killing' me... says:

This Government ain’t gotta clue. The thugs on this island are makin’ them look like a complete bunch of idiots. I’m starting to think that they are and they did have my vote back in ’98. I wish they would start getting’ tough with a select few but I’m pretty sure that some of these thugs are related to the Ministers and that is why there is no action by them in some cases. Change my mind please PLP!

  7. Cedar Beams (Original) says:

It is truly comical. Crime is down (HAHAHA), can’t search young blacks since it is racist, can’t protect ourselves since we are not allowed to have so much as a can of mace. Hey, we are sitting ducks – accept it! Young black thugs are taking over and we are powerless to do anything cos it would be racist or illegal.

And the only thing people want to ban is friggin dark wisors!

Only in pathetic Bermuda would people be so polite (read lazy) as to allow this to happen.

    Take your country back now

  8. Shut up says:

Tired of hearing bermuda finished and diss and that shut the F up its life if ya scared get a Gun or a Dog or leave the island it ain’t gone change! This happens everywhere in the world you can’t escape this Livefree and Shut Up!

    • jt says:

No – it doesn’t happen everywhere actually.

    • Barracuda says:

Oh it is gonna change .

    • United says:

Kind of a very stupid post. So if crime is everywhere it SHOULD be in Bermuda? You are dumber than a box of rocks.

    • Rick Rock says:

You’d like to believe it happens everywhere. It doesn’t. You’re just making an excuse for the mess the country is in. There are many, many places where you’re safer than here these days. Plenty of places where home invasions and shooting are a rare occurrence. Including many cities.

    • God Son says:

It happens everywhere but it doesn’t mean it’s right.. Bermuda was BLESSED to have held on to soo many values and ways of life that are a myth in other countries. Such as sleeping with a window r door open, actually knowing your neighbors, etc, etc. The youth out here take the ENTERTAINMENT industrywayyto seriously. They want to dress, walk, and talk the fake image these artists portray mor than love their country. This s sad. Nobody is impressed, I think all you lot are the BIGGEST cowards iveever seen! Real thugs dont hit up areas where there’s children’s or at family type events. I’m goin to pray for you because the hell you’re bringing upon yourself and your country is petty, unnecessary and disgraceful. No one respects you knuckleheads, they’re disgusted by your dumb ass choices

    • Not Again! says:

OMG!!! Shut up, you can NOT be that stupid!!! Our island to too small for this crap. I don’t belong to a gang and neither does any of my family but we have still been affected by what is happening. do us all a favour and put your name into practice!

  9. knowPublic says:

Lets not let these idiots bring us down to their level and lead by example. Have a Good Friday Bermuda!

  10. no strategy says:

Shocking… A shooting after a big party at SCC..

I think the only surprise I have is that there were not police nearby, only made sense that ish would pop off.

Someone from town ventured west who someone from country didn’t think should be there methinks… Sounds familiar?

    • Somerset OG says:

Somerset police were sleepy from coloring easter eggs all day. You would think those slackers would have a few patrol cars set up. Once again the keystone cops dropped the ball. Can you say TAKE PRECAUTIONS?

      • United says:

Listen, the police are always there AFTER the crime. It goes without saying. They are not there to prevent crime. Anybody thinking that cops prevent crime are completely oblivious to reality. That is why I am a big proponent of gun ownership. Bermuda government, pull your collective heads out of your sphincters and look at the possibility of such proposals. You will notice a tremendous downturn in crime and revenues will go up into government coffers.

      • M.¤.B says:

@ Somerset OG….. Lay da f_ck down., u aint NO fu_ckin OG ya in damn DISENY, who tha f_ck r u?!?!?! NOBODY!!! Come out d hood & claim say ya an OG :D CHUMP go tha f_ck sleep lmfao “OG” lofl

  11. Small minded people says:

    Why why why?????
Why must it always be to fault of the police or some political party? Why dont we begin at home and just perhaps if the parents of these animals took more responsibility of raising them we would,nt be seeing this out of control nonsense. It truely starts from young when thier parents go out and buy these ass hogging knee dropping pants and allow them to run around looking stupid at the tender age of 11 or 12. Oh I guess its cool. Then again how much can thier parents say to them when they are also benifitting from the proceeds they obtain from undesirable activity. Rather then send them to westgate at our expence perhaps they should take them on the other side of north rock and throw them over the side. Everyday day here people take perfectly good pets to the vet and put them to sleep just coz they no longer want them. yet we waste our time and resources entertaining these fools . Not are we left with paying to care for the fools while in prison we are also left for the many children they leave behind .wake up people lets stop blaming govt and everyone else and be responsible for what you created. MONSTERS

    • The HeLL says:

I don’t think any one is blaming the Police they can’t help that they are incompetent. IE: I had a break in at a neighbors house yesterday they were told by Police that the forensic staff are knocked off for the day and they have life and death situations to deal with. So basically your on your own. I think that is pathetic…Crime is spiraling out of control and the authority’s cannot handle it.

  12. Second says:

Oh come on! Leave the BPS and Somerset Police in particular alone. They are doing their best. Put the blame where it lies…. with the misguided ones who have no respect for life. Sorry to hear about another shooting. If they only had an inkling of an idea what this type of behaviour is doing to Bermuda they might start thinking (although I doubt it).
Keep up the good work BPS and have a happy and safe Easter. God Bless!

  13. Changed Soul says:

Ever since Middle Schools were introduced the violence has increased. We blacks are shooting and robbing each other, yet we wonder why we can’t get ahead in life!!! Put down the knives/gun/machetes and pick up a book! #Sposetoo#Knodat#Getme

  14. Non Negotiable says:

Do you really think the island can go back to the good times? Is this increase (daily this week) in crime suddenly going to disappear. Could it be that this the new face of Bermuda. It saddens me to lose the illusion that Bermuda was my paradise. Something i was proud to tell foreigners about.

  15. Good vs evil says:

Comment for shut up! Please think twice before you post a comment like this. Family’s with kids are concerned in which path the country is going with crime. small minded people, I agrees with you and your comment.
Parents need to be aware of what their kids are doing and in which path of life they are heading for. I noticed 4 young boys yesterday in flatts walking and I thought to myself, in a few years the way they were talking and dressed they are headed for trouble and will be the new thug generation. By then most of us will be way to old to even think about defending ourselves as they get more ignorant and fearless of the law. So shut up, i hope you will be happy and still proud of bermuda then!!! What they should do is mummify these thugs for 24 hours in a mummy tomb make sure they can breathe but see no light and not move. They should place them in st George and let the crowd watch and tell them how they feel about there nasty inhumane actions. After that if they have lost there minds then stick in a small cell for life. No human should have to have their life threaten before them. Just a suggestion, if I had my way I would do this for the family’s that we’re tortured.

    • CYGNET says:

BERNEWS Someone wrote “they couldnt wait till he was with his children and their mamas.” Can you not report that persons email address to the Police to trace? That statement is insane. I am praying there will be no more inidents for the Easter weekend and while Bermuda is hosting the Carifta Games.

  16. Just thinking.... says:

This stuff is not new it has just evolved. I was talking to an 83 year old man who used to play cricket for SCC he told me for the first year the players wouldn’t speak to him and treated him like dirt. When he started helping them win Cup Match the tables turned. He says “I was the first player to play for Somerset from accross the bridge”. I am sure if they had guns around back then he might have taken a bullet. Also, men didn’t like it too much if a guy from another area was dating one of th women in their area. Like someone from town dateing someone form St. George’s or Somerset etc. Just crazy then and now.

  17. One of the greatest concerns is we are only 24 miles long and 3 1/2 miles wide there is no were to relocate on Island to escape the madness and we would be stupid to blame the P.L.P as this problem under any administration will be difficult to fix, guns, drugs, money and power go hand in hand and as long as their is money to be made there will be fools willing to fill any position that comes available.so if our children are taught and not bought we can atleast help to save part of the next generation.i say since we are still under Britian, let the armed forces along with scotland yard come and do a swoop down through the entire island and use martial law if that what it takes but then it might upset some of our own who benefit greatly from the trade itself.so since we cant run and the law can slow them down we better think of creative ways to protect our own selves, sounds stupid but what are you left to do.

  18. God is good says:

Thank God ya gonna be alright Baby cuzo

  19. Wake up! says:

wake up and realize that they have “them” on payroll!! come on now this aint nfn new!

    • wake up and live says:

here in bermuda most people have their head in the sand, the parents dont think their child is involved or they are benifitting, and it is until little johnny gets caught ….Then !

  20. Said n Done says:

R some of u even reading over what ur saying like seriously one person is tryin 2 make a goodfriday joke sayin y didn’t they wait until he was flying kites with his kids some r blaming the parties some r blaming the police some have even took it as far as thinkin we shouldn’t hve crime because we r Bermuda…lol news flash ppl its not the PLP or the UBP’s problem its our problem as a whole because if u like it or not we are one n if u feel like it isn’t ur problem then when the shootings happen shut up about them don’t complain or comment because guess wat…ITS NOT UR PROBLEM and wtf can the police really do read minds and try to b there b4 the crime happens (rollin my eyes) n note to EVERYBODY jus because we’re a small Island doesn’t mean crime isn’t gonna happen we r human just like the rest of the world crime is everywhere in the world its jus still fresh 2 us regardless if it guns or rubbery its everywhere

  21. PawPaw says:

Put the blame where it belongs! Bad parenting, and a total lack of respect and self pride!
Our value system has deteriorated and is almost non-existent!
The situation will continue to get worse until the parents and families of these thugs turn them in and stop enabling them to continue to commit more crimes and acts of violence! The Government and politicians are NOT responsible for what goes on in your homes!!!!

  22. Rigamortis says:

@ Bernews…just wondering why my earlier post was eliminated?

  23. real talk says:

Does anybody have the real story yet?

  24. real talk says:

I heard d boy was hit in d head with a bottle. A shot just happened to fire around d same time. And who had d gun? He who was injured or someone else? Hmmmm!!!

  25. Goose says:

Blame the mothers that see their babies coming home with fat wads of cash without having a job. You want this to stop? Get your children in line. Otherwise you have no right to shed a single tear when they’re being lowered into their grave.
