Harbour Nights To Celebrate July 4th

July 2, 2012

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce said they are “planning to turn Front Street into Main Street USA for a spectacular 4th of July celebration this Wednesday.”

In making the announcement Chamber Executive Director Joanne MacPhee noted, “The Chamber is excited about plans for this week’s very special Harbour Nights. As a tribute to our American friends and neighbours we have partnered with our vendors, retailers and restaurant members to throw what we hope will be Bermuda’s biggest ever block party!”

Participating stores and vendors will be festooned in red, white and blue and restaurants and bars in the area will be featuring American food items and beverages at special celebratory prices.

The Chamber noted that the entertainment lineup for the night is “spectacular.” The evening will begin with ‘The Argo Foundation presents Bermuda Glee’, a specially choreographed performance of “Seasons of love” from the Broadway smash hit musical Rent, to be performed by 55 Bermuda public and private school students between the ages of 14 and 18.

Dynamic soloist Toni Robinson will perform a musical tribute to America, before making way for EVOLUTION, The City of Hamilton’s Hair & Beauty Showcase.

The fashion show will be followed by Pump It Up, the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trusts’ lighthearted fund raiser featuring well-heeled local celebrities.

There will be a Ballpark Hot Dog eating competition and then Pickled Onion’s house band Graffiti Park, will have Bermuda dancing in the streets to classic American rock & roll.

The evening will conclude with a grand finale, when Great Sound presents a spectacular aerial laser display to music and fireworks.

In conclusion Mrs. MacPhee noted, “Perhaps the most amazing part of the entire night is the fact that it is all absolutely free! So we are actively encouraging all of Bermuda to come out and celebrate with our visitors. “
