Womens & Mens Hockey Division Results
Hockey action took place this past weekend, with the women’s division seeing the Canaries defeat the Swallows, and the Wildcats defeating the Budgies. The men’s division saw the Polecats defeat the Upstarts and the Pantheons defeat the Spartans.
Women’s Division: Canaries 7 Swallows 2
The Canaries went ahead in the 18th minute when Elizabeth Duncan scored from a Penalty Corner, Jenni Crayford doubled the Canaries lead ten minutes later when she scored a Field Goal. It was 3 – 0 to the Canaries in the 35th minute when Selina DeSilva scored a Field Goal and then four minutes later the Canaries were 4 – 0 ahead when Maria Angie Alvarez scored a Field Goal.
A field Goal off the stick of Brittany Uddin in the 41st minute gave the Canaries a 5 – 0 lead, however Elizabeth Stewart pulled a goal back for the Swallows in the 52nd minute scoring a Field Goal. two minutes later Stewart scored from a Penalty Corner to pull the Swallows within three goals, however Duncan scored a Penalty Stroke in the 57th minute and Thelma Kachisa scored a Field Goal in the 62nd minute for the Canaries to win 7 – 2.
Women’s Division: Budgies 0 – Wildcats 3
Susanna Almeida scored from a Penalty Corner in the 8th minute to give the Wildcats a 1 – 0 lead over the Budgies, Ashley Steede doubled the lead in the 17th minute when she scored Field Goal, Almeida scored her second Penalty Corner goal of the game in the 30th minute as the Wildcats ran away with a 3 – 0 victory.
Men’s Division: Polecats 7 – Upstarts 0
The Upstarts paid heavily for turning up with only eight men as the Polecats put seven pass them Shannon Simons scored four times in the 9th, 29th, 52nd and 53rd minutes, while Andrew Brouwer scored in the 26th minute, Nigel Deane scored in the 67th minute and Koeshon Smith scored one minute later.
Men’s Division: Pantheons 6 – Spartans 0
Tony Ward scored a Field Goal from an angle in the 10th minute to give the Pantheons a 1 – 0 lead, Jack Finlay doubled the lead in the 25th minute scoring a Field Goal, Ward scored his second Field Goal of the game in the 45minute making the score 3 – 0, then Richard Cox scored a Field Goal in the 50th and Penalty Corner goals in the 56th and 63rd minutes to complete his hat-trick and make the final score 6 – 0.
