Boat & Mooring Owners Registration Reminder

May 9, 2013

The Department of Marine and Ports, Boats and Moorings section, today issued a reminder to boat and mooring owners that the deadline for registration renewals is 4.30 p.m. Friday May 31st, 2013.

A statement from the Department said, “New 2013 decals must be in place by June 1st on all moorings and boats. Mooring licences that are unpaid as of September 1st will be cancelled and the buoys cut. Marine Police will be patrolling and issuing tickets to any offending boats as of June 1.

“Boat and mooring owners should have received their annual renewal notices through the mail. Failure to receive a renewal notice does not exempt mooring owners from the prescribed late fee effective June 1.

“Boats are not subject to a late fee but unless they are out of the water by law they must be registered and display a current decal. All boats including punts and kayaks should be registered if in use.

“Anyone who has not yet received a renewal notice will need to come to the Department to pay in person. Boat and mooring owners are encouraged to make sure they have a correct address on file with the Department.

“Transfers of boats or moorings must be done in person with photo ID at the department. Those who need to update their address can call the Department on 294-4453 or email: boatsandmoorings@gov.bm to update their details.

“Payment can be made in three ways:

  • Payment in person- methods are cash, cheque or card
  • Payment online through HSBC. Detailed instructions are included in the renewal notice.
  • Mail in cheque- self addressed envelope included as part of the renewal notice- no stamp needed.

“Members of the public coming to pay in person are advised that there is no parking at Marine and Ports. Please park either at the top of Spurling Hill or the Supermarket parking lot. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.”
