Hospital Review To Be Tabled In Parliament

May 8, 2013

The Minister of Health and Seniors Patricia Gordon-Pamplin and the Bermuda Hospitals Board said that the Howard Associates’ “Corporate and Clinical and Governance Review For Bermuda Hospitals Board” will be Tabled in the House of Assembly on 17th May, 2013.

The Minister said, “This review is of great importance to the Bermuda Hospitals Board and the people of Bermuda. As such, it is appropriate that the report be made public through the House of Assembly.”

The Minister noted that once the Members of the House had received copies of the Report, it would be released to the public.

“It is our intent to hold a press conference on the afternoon of 17th May which will allow the BHB to present the Report to the media,” explained Minister Gordon-Pamplin.

BHB Chairman, Mr. Jonathan Brewin, commented: “I’m very pleased to be confirming a date for making the Report public. A lot of work has already started under the current Board, which first met in February 2013.

“Once the Report is tabled in the House by the Minister, we look forward to sharing the Report and talking about the actions the Board is taking to ensure greater accountability and transparency in our hospitals.”

The Minister noted that it is anticipated that the Ombudsman’s Report relating to Howard Associates Report will also be Tabled on 17th May. “The original terms of reference were that Howard Associates would do the work, and the Ombudsman would review their report and opine thereon” said the Minister.

Minister….will this report be altered before it is made public? Howard Associates were hired under the previous BHB board and government – which leaves us to wonder if KEMH management and administration be included as change has to come from the top down – well, we the public will see….

A shout out there to the Bermuda Hospital Advocacy Group…. keep up the good work and make sure that they are held accountable and are transparent! This is our only hospital and needs to be an example to the world that we can get health care right!

Let’s hear some GOOD comments about KEMH – they certainly do plenty of GOOD things – which appear to be taken for granted ! Thanks to all those Administrators, Drs, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Lab Technologists, Pharmacists, Volunteers, and etcs for their continuing commitment and dedication. We are fortunate to have you !

Hmm they seem very happy about this report. I wonder what the ombudsman has to say about these consultants work. As she did say she was reviewing it?
