Meet Miss Southampton: Denae Simmons

In the second of a series of profiles of contestants, Bernews today spotlights Denae Simmons who is representing Southampton Parish in the Miss Bermuda Pageant, which will be held on June 23rd.

This Bermuda College student has directed and published three Bermuda swimsuit calendars featuring models since 2011.

Asked why she entered Miss Bermuda, the 24-year-old said, “I entered the pageant to have fun but also prove to myself that I can accomplish anything I set my mind too.

“I’m quite comfortable performing on stage and in front of a camera, however, speaking publicly is not something I’m used to and that influenced me to step up to the challenge”.

“I have enjoyed every step of this experience so far. I look forward to every photo shoot, appearance, rehearsal and workshop. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to meet new people through this experience, especially my fellow contestants”, said Miss Simmons.

Asked what she has enjoyed about the experience so far, Miss Simmons said, “The Miss Bermuda Pageant is truly a life experience for all females.

“I see it as an etiquette class for your woman wanting to be more than the ordinary. Some may think of it as just a beauty contest, but the real beauty of this experience is what you learn about yourself”.
