Track & Field Athletes Summer Meets Results
After a great success at the Natwest Island Games with athletics finishing the event with a haul of over 20 medals, Bermuda’s track and field athletes continue into summer meets.
Justin Donawa made the finals in the triple jump at the World Youth Championships in the Ukraine and placing 7th overall with a huge personal best of 15.65m.
Kyrah Scraders makes it to the semi-finals at the World Youth Championships in the 800m with a personal best of 2.08.91 and then again in the semi-finals running a time of 2:09.30. Shaquille Dill makes it to the finals at the University Games in the 800m running a PB of 1:47.76.
Senior athletes competing at the CAC Senior Championships with Arantxa King winning silver in the long jump with her best jump of the season of 6.45m and Shianne Smith claiming a silver in the heptathlon with a new Bermuda record of 52222 points and a new Bermuda record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.27.
In the IAAF World Championships being held in Moscow from August 10 to August 18, the team from Bermuda will consist of 2 Olympians Arantxa King and Tyrone Smith, who will both competed in the long jump.
Traveling with the team will be Team Manager Michele Williams [Vice President of BNAA] and Troy Douglas [National Coach of BNAA].
As there is an IAAF World Congress at all World Championships and Donna Watson [President of BNAA] and Freddie Evans [General Secretary of BNAA] will also be traveling to the Championships for the Congress. BNAA will also have an election for the new President.
