Photos & Results: ITF Beach Tennis Day #2
The 6th Annual ITF Bermuda Beach Tennis International Tournament concluded in wet conditions at the Horseshoe Bay Beach on Sunday [Aug 25], with the event taking place despite intermittent rain throughout the day.
In the Ladies Pro Division Semi-Final, Brazilian pair Samantha Barijan and Joana Cortez defeated Brazilian Flavia Muniz and Mathilde Hoarau from France in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. Italian Federica Bacchetta teamed up with Patricia Diaz from Venezuela defeated French pair Pauline Bourdet and Magalie Garnieer in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
In the Final, Barijan and Cortez defeated Bacchetta and Diaz in a thrilling three setter. Bacchetta and Diaz won the first set 7-5, Barijan and Cortez bounced back to win the second set 6-3 and then Barijan and Cortez closed out the match winning 6-4 in the third and final set.
In the Men’s Pro first Semi-Final, Italian pair Alex Mingozzi and Niccolo Strano defeated American Mark Bonfigli and Alessandra Calbucci from Italy in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, while Italy’s Micheke Folegatti and Brazil’s Vinicius Font defeated American Matt Garavaglia and Italy’s Amedeo Cicognani in the other Semi-Final in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
In the Final, Italian pair Mingozzi and Strano defeated Garavaglia and Cicognani in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
