September 16, 2013

Digicel Business have today [Sept 16] announced its new Cloud Solutions portfolio for its clients’ business needs.

A spokesperson said, “As the region’s leading full service business solutions partner, Digicel Business is excited to announce its new Cloud Solutions portfolio, featuring the latest suite of cloud solutions to drive business advantage.

“Working with Citrix, Cisco and Microsoft, who are leading global cloud technology providers, Digicel Business now offers complete cloud solutions for its clients’ business needs. This line of business applications offers best of breed solutions to complex business problems.

“Within the Cloud Solutions portfolio, Digicel’s “Desktop as a Service” is a scalable service that allows clients to use a cloud-hosted desktop environment to deliver business applications, including Microsoft Office, across multiple devices.

“Clients can control the security of their businesses’ information on employee mobile devices with Mobile Device Management. Digicel Mobile Device Management enables completely secure access to any business application, using any device.”

“At Digicel Business, we aim to keep our clients at the forefront with leading technology solutions. Citrix, Cisco and Microsoft are recognised as global leaders in the cloud industry,” stated Tom O’Neill, Digicel Bermuda Business Solutions Director. “We have the highest level of service provider partner accreditations with each of these global leaders, which reflects their recognition of our commitment in this regard.”

Mr. O’Neill continued, “Digicel Business is equipped to bring the high quality Enterprise Private Cloud Solutions to Bermuda with a full-service offering that enhances the user experience and delivers significant value to our business clients.”

“After a rigorous process, Citrix has selected Digicel as a strategic go to market partner for Desktop as a Service”, the spokesperson said.

Speaking for Citrix, Scott Swanburg stated, “The Desktop as a Service (DaaS) market is growing rapidly and our Citrix Service Provider (CSP) partners are delivering hundreds of thousands of cloud-hosted desktops and applications to businesses that are looking to go mobile and enable bring your own (BYO) device programs.

“Digicel is the first regional telecommunications company outside of the U.S. to offer these services as part of the CSP program. Digicel Desktop as a Service will bring significant value to customers across the Caribbean and Central America, allowing them to take full advantage of the flexibility of hosted desktops and applications with maximum uptime and productivity.”

“Digicel Desktop as a Service is powered by Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenMobile which enable businesses to go mobile and develop “bring your own device” programs without the need for large capital investments”, the spokesperson continued.

“By making high-end technology affordable on a scalable basis, Digicel Desktop as a Service levels the playing field for small and medium sized businesses that would otherwise be unable to access these market leading technologies.”

“Businesses are increasingly interested in solutions like Digicel Desktop as a Service because of the ease and efficiency provided,” stated Mr. O’Neill.

“There is no capital expenditure, their employees can bring their own devices, they can have a mobile workforce, their data is secure and protected, and maintenance and upgrades are included. Businesses can focus on what they do best rather than spending important capital and resources on purchasing and maintaining expensive, depreciating equipment.”

“As more businesses adopt DaaS solutions, the market is growing to accommodate the demand. IDC estimates an 84 per cent compound annual growth rate from 2011 to 2016″, the spokesperson concluded. For more information about Digicel Business, email BDA_Business@digicelgroup.com or call 500-5000.

I find it strange that out new “telecoms authority” Is giving digicel a free reign, but stifling logic from expanding and bundling services. Do they not understand the Digicel has and will throw exorbitant amounts of money around to destroy all competition… Just look what they have done to telecoms in Jamaica!

I thought companies with Bermudian employees would benefit from deregulation. But it now seems that Digicel are attempting to bury all local companies with their huge Jamaica profits. Come on Reg Authority make it fair. Save our jobs. Remember all this “cloud” service takes jobs and earning power offshore!

…Except… I saw on the news last week that Digicel was actually creating jobs and Bermuda has been chosen as a cloud hub. So it sounds like it’s actually bringing jobs and earning power to Bermuda, not away from here… there’s even a link in this article, but in case you missed it: http://bernews.com/2013/09/digicel-business-solutions-centre-opens-in-hamilton/
