  1. Raymond Ray says:

Minister of Sports where were you? This was an opportunity for the O.B.A. show how they support Sports! but no, you for some reasson allowed the P.L.P. representative to beat you to the airport and the punch. Shame on you :-(

  2. Shakee says:

Well done Bernews for being there for our girls. You go beyond the call of duty. The girls were happy to be home after representing Bermuda to the fullest.

  3. The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

Minister of sports does not care about our youths achievements i guess ..hell even in the back lurking is an OBA member and he didnt even deem it necessary to come over and say a few words …smh…

  4. The Fact says:

All they are doing is making this achievment a polictical statement. Of course the OBA member wouldn’t make a statement, he probably doesnt have the permission to. Teams have been coming home for years, successful and unsuccessful, but rarely did you see the old administration come out and support. Thats because they were already in “Power” and didnt care.

Congrats young ladies on a huge achievment. I wish you future success.

    • The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

doesnt have the permission to?? what kind of nonsense are you spewing?….He didnt show up to show support plain and simple nor did any other OBA memeber..although there is one lurking in the back

      • Check your facts.... says:

Actually the good gentleman in the back was at the airport as he had spent the last two weeks in Haiti supporting our girls in their successes.

        • Fruity says:

Well I was here saying the SAME thing!!!! WTH?! All this negative spill on ASSumptions. wow….

C, continue training & supporting our YOUTH! I know you offer them and others a GREAT deal of positive despite your surroundings!!

          xo

        • Really?? says:

Actually he was not there in his capacity as an OBA member. He does support sports and the youth but that does not excuse the current ruling government not sending a representative to the airport to greet these you ladies for their achievement. Shame on the government.

    • Really?? says:

@The Fact, that is a poor excuse. When are you and all the other supporters going to stop with the lame and tired excuse of “well the PLP didn’t do it so we don’t have to either”. Shouldn’t the new government try to things that the old government didn’t do? Stop supporting wrong and encourage them to do what’s right.

  5. Zario says:

Wasn’t the minister in Parliament, with all the other MP’s last night?

    • Check your facts.... says:

Yes he was. He knew that the girls were returning last night and would have like to have been there, but was stuck in Paliament.

Now can we also stop Politicizing an event that should be about celebrating the young ladies success!

    • Yawn says:

Yes he was, so were the PLP MP’s. OBA has 5 Senators they could have sent. That said, congrats to these young ladies, they should be the topic here not our politicians.

      • watching says:

he was in the House but I don’t recall hearing him speak to anything. But I guess he had to be there to vote for the Corporation takeover back to the 1960s.

  6. Concerned says:

This report isn’t about who was or who wasn’t there, this isn’t a poiltical situation – it is about a group of talented School Girls who sacrifced lots of hours, pain and gain to get where they are. All Praise to the Lord for their talents and determination to be the best for their Communities, Island home, family and schools and also for the patient coaches. Continue to be focused ladies you can only go from strength to strength in all things.

    BERNEWS – NO. 1

    Welcome home Baby Nolan.

  7. Fruity says:

Well done young ladies!!!! I am very happy for you.

  8. Really?? says:

First off, Congratulations ladies. You have done Bermuda and women’s football proud. It is shameful that the ruling government couldn’t send a representative to the airport to greet these girls and congratulate them for their achievement. It not about politicizing the event, it’s about right and wrong. Even if the minister of sports was busy and couldn’t make it, he could have asked one of the Senators to come in his stead. It’s not about scoring political points, it’s just the right thing to do. Thank you Senator Rabain and all the other parents, families and friends for coming out to congratulate these young ladies on their achievement.

  9. What Grinds My Gears says:

WelldDone ladies. U ALL have represented BDA proud.

Unlike all thos bloggers who want to make this about politics. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where any of you there? If yes/no, WHO CARES!!!!!!

    Again, WELL DONE LADIES!!!

    • Check your facts.... says:

Couldn’t have said it any better…

And to set the record straight.. I am one of the proud parents whose daughter flew home last night from this trip.

Celebrate their success everyone! You will see more and more success from this exceptional group of young ladies!

  10. Laine says:

Soooo proud of these young ladies! !! Who cares who was or wasn’t there. You really think the average politician attends events because of a strong desire? ! I don’t think so. Obligation is the key. So don’t. Be so critical as to who did or did not show.
