10 Year Old Girl Dies After Pedal Cycle Collision
[Updated: The police identified the little girl as Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis.]
The Bermuda Police Service have confirmed the very sad news that a little girl passed away this evening [Jan 11] after being involved in a collision on her pedal cycle in Southampton.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 6:15pm on Saturday, January 11th first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision in the Camp Hill Southampton area, near Tribe Road Number 1.
“It appears that a ten year old girl riding a pedal cycle collided with a pole.
“She was seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where she later succumbed to her injuries.
“No further information will be given until the next of kin have been notified.
“A full investigation is underway and any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information should contact the main police telephone number on 295-0011.”
Update Jan 12, 3.01pm: The police amended the little girl’s age to 10, and identified her as Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 10 year old Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis.
“Tiffanelle was seriously injured around 6:15pm Saturday, January 11th when the pedal cycle she was riding along Tribe Road Number 1 in Southampton apparently collided with a fixed footpath barrier.
“EMTs immediately attended to the unresponsive 10 year old girl at the scene. Life saving efforts continued as she was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance; however Tiffanelle was later pronounced dead by an on call doctor at 6:45pm Saturday.
“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to Tiffanelle’s family to assist them at this difficult time.
“The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing and any witnesses, particularly persons who may have information regarding the whereabouts of 10 year old Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis in the hours prior to this tragic incident, should contact PC Bianca Glasford at the Roads Policing Unit directly on 247-1175, 717-2064 or via the e-mail address bglasford@bps.bm.

Update Jan 12, 6.57pm: Shadow Transport Minister Lawrence Scott said, “The passing of Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis in a road accident is atragedy that should deeply sadden and concern all Bermudians.
“One can only imagine the anguish and pain being felt by her family and we hope that in this time of bereavement that all who knew and loved this little girl are embraced, supported and lifted up in prayer.
“On behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, we extend our condolences to the family and encourage all Bermudians to use extra caution on our roads.”

I saw on WABC news from NY a 9 year old boy walking with is dad crossing the street was struck and killed,…my own 9year old was watching with me…now reading about what has happen in Camp Hill same age child

Dont think ppl intentionally push dislike. I have try to hit like once and have accidentally touch the dislike only cause of the new smartphones they are very sensitive. Cause I will be very upset to know that during a time of mourning one will select dislike. Bermuda can’t be the heartless. To the famiy you have my deepest condolence.
Some of our island folk are truly that heartless; until tragedy hits them.
I can see it being unintentional if maybe it was once or twice but “dislike” has been “hit” too many times…..

This is just so tragic. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of this precious girl.
People, as hard as it is please try to ignore the clicks on the dislike tab. There are sick people out there whose sole purpose in life is to make others feel as miserable as they do. All they are looking for is to get a reaction from people. Only a sick, evil monster would do such a thing, but Jesus loves the little children so one day their wicked souls will get their just reward.

I notice a lot of the ‘dislikes’ have to do with comments that are religious. Even if you are not religious, you don’t have to ‘dislike’ the comment-look at the spirit of the message.
Furthermore, a lot of this negativity is coming from a cynical, ex-pat population. This isn’t the Bermudian way. I’m not trying to bash ex-pats but I work with a couple and they take great pleasure from being mean-spirited towards Bermudians for some reason. They use social media to get their mean-spiritedness across. Again, this isn’t the Bermudian way and I doubt Bermudians are the ones doing this.

They’re called trolls, they actually get a glimpse of a moments satisfaction in their sad pathetic little lives from hitting dislike.
