January 1, 2014

On New Year’s Eve police officers responded to a number of incidents including a woman being assaulted at Pier 6, fighting in St. George’s and a disturbance on Pitts Bay Road.

A 30 year old woman required facial surgery after being assaulted at the lower level of Pier 6, while a 22 year old man was treated at the hospital for head injuries after the disturbance on Pitts Bay Road.

The police said that two men were arrested in connection with the Pitts Bay matter, however “at this juncture the complainant does not wish to press charges.”

The police also responded to the St. Georges area after receiving reports of groups of youth fighting, and arrested a woman on suspicion of DUI after she almost struck a police car while driving in Hamilton.

In addition, two people were taken to hospital to be treated for shock after their car burst into flames just past midnight while they were driving in St David’s.

30 Year Old Woman Assaulted at Pier 6

At 12:49am on Wednesday morning, police attended a report of an assault that occurred at the Pier 6 premises.

The victim, a 30 year old Smiths woman, states that she was at Pier 6 at a New Year’s celebration when an unknown female walked up to her asking her “why are you talking to him”.

The suspect then assaulted the Smith’s woman, who was taken to the hospital where she required facial surgery.

Neither security, the victim or the victim’s friends were able to get the identity of this woman. This was a very brutal and unprovoked attack and police are appealing for this woman to turn herself in to the police.

We are also appealing to anyone who may have seen this incident or who may know the identity of this woman to please make contact with the police on 2950011.

With the 30 year old woman they said (Neither security, the victim or the victim’s friends were able to get the identity of this woman.) I wanna ask did anybody ask the guy she was talking to who the female attacker was?

  6. Larry Woolgar says:

You can always see some stupid women fighting over some guy as good seasonal entertainment on this island!

The St.Georges incident – It looks like the gangs made sure that all the security/Police left than they decided to duke it out!
On my way out of St.Georges I did notice that Police positioned themselves for the massive Traffic flow after
    the event. -
Fight after – what’- guys don’t chase Chicks no more’ – what have made and what have we become????

Else for the DUI – ‘JUST ONE PERSON’– thats pretty good’ considering the amount of People drinking that night’.

And she had to nearly run over a cop car to get caught!

  8. Kangoocar says:

The victim does not want to press charges???? This violent nonsense is never going to end as long as we allow these types to make that decision!!! In the US it would not be left to victim to make the decision of who gets charged!

  9. Scoalsy says:

You get this kind of behavior because the punishment is to lenient, every time someone goes to court all they get is a PAT on the wrist.

  11. Tricks are For Kids says:

No witnesses to the assault resulting in facial surgery?????..hmmmmm…surely the “HIM” that she was talking to knows who the person is that committed the assault….SMH…..

  12. Enough Already says:

And Pier 6 was empty at the time? no security guards inside or at the main entrance???think not, what about the CCTV on nearby buildings??? Also I have read article a few times and for corectness don’t see any mention of “the victim does not want to press charges”. Even if she doesn’t I am sure the police can do something?

  13. Future of our Children says:

It is sad that we are growing a generation of 10 – 15 year olds that think it is great to fight. I was at the square on New Year’s Eve and I watched the actions of young boys from Hamilton run around the square shouting “Oh it’s war F*** these east people…..”

How sad that I had to stop my night to ensure that my younger cousins (who are not at all involved in fighting and nonsense) walked home safely because these hooligans were running the streets, kicking and punching peoples cars and trying to fight anybody from St. George’s. WHERE ARE THE PARENTS OF THESE FUTURE JAILBIRDS/GANGSTERS/LOSERS!! Oh I forgot clearly they were out themselves partying. SMH

What was most frustrating about the entire evening is that the Police did absolutely nothing. I stood with my friend and 3 children and watched these kids fight and be destructive and I watched the police stand and do nothing. They did not arrest anybody at all nor did they attempt to. One boy was causing the majority of the trouble and the police watched him do so. SMH

Thank you to the parents of these losers in the making for not doing your job as a parent and a big thanks to the bermuda police service for standing around and doing nothing while these CHILDREN ran rampant in the streets of St. George.

    A pissed of St. Georgean

The cops couldn’t let a little roughhousing get in the way of making sure no one smoked any weed, their primary concern.
