A previous statement from the police said, “Around 9:15pm on Friday, March 14th police officers responded to a reported armed burglary at a North Shore Road, Hamilton parish residence.

“It appears that around 8:50pm two men gained entry into the home, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and demanded personal possessions from the occupants.

“During the incident one of the intruders apparently shot and injured himself. Both offenders fled the scene shortly after that. There were no other injuries reported.

“A male subsequently attended the hospital and was treated for a suspected gunshot wound. He was then discharged and arrested in connection with this reported armed burglary.
