Police: Intruder Shoots And Injures Himself
The police have confirmed that an intruder apparently shot and injured himself during an armed burglary at a North Shore Road, Hamilton parish residence on Friday night. The male suspect was treated for a suspected gunshot wound at the hospital, and was then arrested.
The police said a court appearance for the suspect who apparently shot himself is anticipated in due course, and they are continuing inquiries to locate and arrest the second suspect.
The police on the scene late Friday night:
A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:15pm on Friday, March 14th police officers responded to a reported armed burglary at a North Shore Road, Hamilton parish residence.
“It appears that around 8:50pm two men gained entry into the home, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and demanded personal possessions from the occupants.
“During the incident one of the intruders apparently shot and injured himself. Both offenders fled the scene shortly after that. There were no other injuries reported.
“A male subsequently attended the hospital and was treated for a suspected gunshot wound. He was then discharged and arrested in connection with this reported armed burglary.
“He remains in police custody and a court appearance is anticipated in due course. Police are continuing inquiries to locate and arrest the second suspect.
“The investigation into this reported armed burglary is ongoing and detectives are interested in speaking with persons that may have been in the vicinity of East End Telecom around 8:45pm Friday.
“Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”
Update March 17, 10am: It looks like someone may be getting charged in relation to this incident in Court today….we will update as able.

I’m tempted to agree with Double Time’s comment about “do 10 years if you help us catch your mate or 20 if you don’t.” However, knowing the local judicial system, he’ll probably get 6 months probation; or maybe 9 if the judge wants to be REALLY hard on him…
Bernews, is this incident in anyway related to the armed assault on a lady alone by herself at a home in Tucker’s Town in the early morning hours a few weeks ago? Hopefully the pressure will be on this guy to fess up everything he knows.

The hospital shouldnt have treated him- he had intention of breaking and entering AND SHOOTING SOMEONE!!! He deserves what he got and deserves to be punished with jail time and attempted murder for possessing a gun during a break in!
