Videos: St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Fundraiser
Hundreds of thousands of dollars was raised on Friday [Mar 14] as dozens of people, ranging in age from children to adults, stepped up to have their heads shaved as part of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser to find a cure for childhood cancer.
The day kicked off with more than 80 students, staff, and family members of Saltus Grammar School shaving their heads and raising close to $200,000; with the main event held at the BAA gymnasium later that afternoon, bringing together people from all over the island to either be shaved or to support someone who was.
The event has been held each year in Bermuda each year since 2002 and sees participants obtain financial pledges in exchange for shaving their heads. As of this writing Carrie Canode Rosorea is listed as the top fundraiser with $31,216, Kerry Judd is second with $10,580.00, young Hannah D is third with $6,093 and the total for the BAA event is listed at $87,900.
