Bermuda Art Month Returns For October

Bermuda Art Month returns from October 1–31, bringing the island’s arts community together through a month-long celebration of artistic expression, people and traditions.

A spokesperson said, “For one month, Bermuda becomes a canvas for artistic expression, revealing the island in ways both familiar and unexpected. Art Month returns October 1–31, celebrating the people and traditions at the heart of the island’s creative pulse.

“Now in its fourth year, Art Month brings Bermuda’s arts community together with venues across the island, giving visitors and residents new ways to explore the arts.”

“Creativity is part of how Bermuda tells its story, and Art Month gives people so many different ways to experience it,” said Jan Hutton, Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority. “What I love about Art Month is that art turns up in unexpected places — in our caves, around the dinner table, through music and movement, and, of course, in our galleries. There’s a real sense of discovery to it — you never quite know what will capture you.”

Art Month begins in motion

The spokesperson said, “The celebration gets underway October 1 with Art in Motion, an immersive opening night spanning the Bermuda National Gallery and Bermuda Society of Arts at City Hall & Arts Centre. Live music, art, interactive experiences and curated cocktail and mocktail bars will transform multiple floors into a moving celebration of Bermuda’s creative community. Half of ticket proceeds will support the participating galleries, with the remainder benefiting a local charitable cause.

Signature Events: Art beyond the expected

“Throughout October, a collection of specially curated events takes creativity beyond the traditional gallery setting and into some of Bermuda’s most distinctive spaces.

  • October 3 | Bermuda Gombey Festival

“The colour, rhythm, dance and intricate costume of one of Bermuda’s most distinctive cultural traditions take over the Botanical Gardens as Gombey troupes from across the island showcase their artistry.

  • Sundays in October | Sip & Paint in the Caves

“Creativity goes underground inside Grotto Bay’s Prospero Cave, where local artist Carlos Santana Dill leads intimate painting sessions in a remarkable subterranean setting.

  • October 8–11 | Taste of Bermuda

“Four days of bold flavours, entertainment and immersive culinary experiences bring another kind of artistry to locations across the City of Hamilton.

  • October 16 | The Art Tour

“Go behind the pink façade of Hamilton Princess for a private tour of its contemporary collection, where works by Picasso, Matisse, Warhol and Banksy turn hotel corridors into gallery walls.

  • October 17 | Live Art Dinner

“At The Loren, dinner becomes part of the creative process as six local artists create works live during a four-course dining experience with paired wines.

  • October 24 | Art Drop Bermuda: Harmonious Hues

“Visual art meets live classical music at Gosling’s Wine Cellar, pairing works by local artists with a performance by cellist Isaiah Free-Pennington.

  • October 25 | BNG Run for the Arts 5K

“Art Month gets moving with a community 5K supporting Bermuda National Gallery education programmes and public art in North East Hamilton.

Turn Art Month into an island getaway

“For visitors who want to immerse themselves in the celebration, the Art Month Getaway at Grotto Bay brings the experience together in an all-inclusive island weekend.

“The getaway combines an oceanfront stay with curated gallery tours, historic walks, local art showcases and the subterranean Sip & Paint experience, offering travellers a chance to discover Bermuda through its artists, places and stories.

Your passport to Bermuda’s creative side

“The Art Month Passport offers another way to explore throughout October. Visitors and residents can pick up a passport and collect stamps as they make their way through participating galleries and museums across the island. Once completed, the passport can be redeemed for a special gift at one of Bermuda’s Visitor Services Centres. The initiative encourages people to venture beyond individual events, discover more of Bermuda’s cultural institutions and keep exploring throughout the month.

“From established collections to emerging artists, Gombey tradition to digital storytelling, paintbrushes to dinner plates, Art Month offers dozens of ways to experience creativity — and no single way to do it.

Come curious.
