Twitter To Roll Out New Profile Page Design

April 8, 2014

Twitter will be unveiling a new profile design, allowing users to utilize a larger profile photo and header as well as show off their best Tweets.

The company announced the overhaul in a blog post today [Apr 8], and with rhe cover photo and profile photo both being significantly larger, some tech blogs have said the design change is reminiscent of Facebook – Twitter’s most prominent rival.

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Twitter account was one of the first to get the new design:

According to Twitter, the main features are:

  • Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.
  • Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about.
  • Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.

The new profile pages are currently available only to a small group of existing users as well as those new to Twitter. The company said the new features will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
