American Retailer Selling Bermuda Short Suits
While Bermuda shorts are a common piece of professional attire here on the island, the idea of a “short-suit” is relatively unheard elsewhere, however companies such as American clothing maker J.Crew hope to change that with the release of their professional short-suits for men, priced at around $450.
Bloomberg Businessweek didn’t quite think it’s a universal look, saying: “The list of people who can pull it off doesn’t stretch much beyond professionals in Bermuda and street-style icons such as Nick Wooster and Pharrell.”
Bloomberg’s reference to Pharrell was a nod to when the Grammy Award-winning musician raised eyebrows on the red carpet at the Oscars earlier this year when he showed up wearing what the LA Times described as a “Bermuda tuxedo.”
Judging by the example photographs offered on their website, J.Crew hasn’t yet perfected the Bermuda business look yet, with the customary long socks missing from the equation.

Way back when there was a (very) short lived attempt to push short sleeved suits on the market – basically a suit where the jacket had short sleeves. Outside of fashion magazines I actually saw one (once) on Bay Street in Toronto. Never again (not even on the individual that was wearing it the first time.)
I expect this item will last about as long.
