Canopius Bermuda To Launch Art Initiative

July 9, 2014

The artistic community in Bermuda will soon have new venues to exhibit their works.

In this innovative programme, envisioned by CEO Stephen Hartwig, Canopius Bermuda will transform their office walls into a gallery of local artists’ works.

The company will stage an opening reception to showcase the collection with each piece offered for sale commission free. It is projected that three shows will be mounted annually, to maximize exposure for Bermuda’s visual artists while providing a new setting to show and sell their works.

“It’s a simple idea beneficial for all. We have blank walls and frequent business visitors… Bermuda is filled
with brilliant artists but limited exhibition space. Why not come together”, Mr. Hartwig commented.

When the concept was shared with Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty CEO, Brian Madeiros a second project emerged. With some clients’ retail space presently vacant, Mr Madeiros was pleased to be approached and said, “It quickly became apparent that we could assist to create tangible synergy by helping to execute a collaborative strategy between our commercial agents, our client landlords, our neighbor Canopius Bermuda and Bermuda’s very active artist community.

” We hope that by introducing this concept to our portfolio of commercial landlords who have vacant space, someone may see this as a great opportunity to give back to our community.”

On-island artists or photographers who would like to learn more about either of these opportunities and receive detailed information are asked to contact canopiusart@logic.bm expressing interest. The deadline for works to be submitted via photo for consideration is Monday, 21st July.
