BBFS & BHS To Host All Girls Football Festival

October 9, 2014

During the October Mid-Term school break an all-girls football camp will allow players to focus on the individual skills and overall team play.

The camp, a collaborative effort between Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School [BBFS] and the Bermuda High School Football Club [BHS FC], is for girls in Primary 4 and up with age groups for Under-8 through Under-14.

“We’re excited to bring this camp to the girls of Bermuda,” says Cal Blankendal, CEO of BBFS. “Girls football is the fastest growing form of the game and our camp is going to be fun and action-packed.”

Mr. Blankendal says that beyond developing their football skills the All Girls Football Camp is an opportunity to make friendships with other girls who play football and that they plan to offer other activities that encourage life-skills development and healthy lifestyle choices.

“In previous camps we’ve had a yoga presentation and jewelry making, so we try and keep it interesting,” he says.

BHS FC has been going for over 10 years and each year attracts over 100 players that participate in the inter-school competitions, BFA league and Kappa Classic.

“BBFS has been a great support to our volunteer coaches over the last couple of seasons and we’re thrilled to work with them to build up girls football,” says Debby Backeberg of BHS FC.
