BTA: People Putting Paradise Back On Its Feet

“The cooperation of the public and private sectors along with the tenacity of Bermuda’s people is putting this island paradise back on its feet at incredible speed,” the Bermuda Tourism Authority said today [Oct 19]

“Bermuda’s recovery from Hurricane Gonzalo is underway as expertly as its preparation,” the BTA said. ”The L.F. Wade International Airport will reopen today at 5:00pm, the Bermuda Department of Airport Operations said. The Causeway, the main road serving the airport, was reopened yesterday afternoon.

“The majority of hotel properties in Bermuda are open and are accepting guests and future reservations.

“Visitors with trips planned to Bermuda should contact their airline to confirm the specifics of their travel arrangements.

“Cruise ship calls to the island scheduled for today and tomorrow have been cancelled as a result of Hurricane Gonzalo. The Celebrity Infinity remains on schedule for her arrival Wednesday.

“Public ferry service has resumed its normal schedule and bus service will begin once a roads assessment of all routes is completed. We’ll provide updates on bus service as they are received.

“Once again Bermuda has shown it is built to last in the face of severe weather like Hurricane Gonzalo.

“The cooperation of the public and private sectors along with the tenacity of Bermuda’s people is putting this island paradise back on its feet at incredible speed. All of us are ready to get back to work doing what we do best: welcoming visitors.”

      Why are you and some others so worried about what people are being paid? If you want to ask appropriate questions and hope to get the answer to ? (1) What was Dr. “B” and side kick Col. paid for you know what? (2) Also, how much was wasted by, (you know who) while they held the reins in their hands for so many years? Inquisitive minds would just love to know :-(

    As a 9-year expat – the response to hurricanes here is unbelievable. Hard to believe we’ve had two in 6 days, you’d never know it!
