  1. been there.. says:

Did anyone think that maybe there were a bunch of students coming home… of course we don’t know all the information, but it is that time of year…

    • ian says:

Im sure they didn’t look at the manifest and say “wow there sure is a lot of Bermudian people going to Bermuda… this is suspicious!” Hahahahahaha DOPE

    • Kunta says:

Maybe this has something to do with CCC, all de fuss about CCC being associated with corrupt sub-contractors expect some backlash.

    • Common Cents says:

Why would Canadian authorities target 11 students? And it is a little early for a Christmas break.

    • That time of year? says:

been there, Fall break for Canadian schools was a month (or more) ago, Canadian Thanksgiving was in October, and students won’t be coming home for Xmas until after exams which, for most of them, will be three weeks away so that guess doesn’t wash.

      • That time says:

it is that time of year. Im in school in Canada and will be coming home this week. So why is that reason not an option

        • That time of year? says:

You’re the exception. For most schools exams are just starting.

    • Rock watcher says:

Really because they are students they must be bringing in drugs that’s an insult to a lot of young people who are doing exactly what they should be doing ……….getting an education so they can be a productive citizen …….and yes I am the proud parent of 2 University students….

      • Happy says:

Why are they coming home now if they are students? As the poster above you said it’s not Thanksgiving, I know because I flew up for Canadian Thanksgiving and flew home just in time for Gonzalo. As they also pointed out exams aren’t over yet so it isn’t Christmas break, students shouldn’t be coming home for another 2 weeks and in some cases 3. I booked my girlfriend’s flight last month her last exam is the 18th.

      • MAKE MY DAY says:

Something is amiss!!! The Canadian authorities are 99% on top of their game!!

  2. come on nah says:

They would’ve came back last week.

    • Common Cents says:

Um Canadian Thanksgiving was in October. Canadian schools don’t close for the American Thanksgiving holiday.

  3. Sky Pilot says:

to all the above fools that ran with the idea these were students,READ the article instead of being a sheep like most Bermudians are these days..

    READ IT before you comment

  4. King Jammys says:

Until we do something to reduce the economic incentive we shall see more of the same. Government needs to step in and get that money reducing our debt with the money drugs generate.

    • stop ASSUMING says:

Where did the article say anything about drugs?

    • Creamy says:

There’s an economic incentive to rob banks, but most people go their whole lives without even considering it.

    • Your joking says:

I don’t care if they legalize drugs or not….but let’s not kid ourselves…These people trying to import and sell are criminals. ..they have no desire to obtain real work…legalizing drugs and taking away their profits will only change their direction to other illegal ways of obtain money…e.g .home invasions; theft; etc

    • Sandgrownan says:

      Such as? Example or suggestion

    • Strike fund says:

Drugs would not bring in very much extra cash here. It would just recycle cash already on island.

Bermuda would not be a cost effective place (shipping and salaries alone would cost too much from here) to grow and sell so nobody would buy from us.

  5. long time says:

no loud comin in now lol they all got caught

ofcourse cracking a joke dont take it to serious

  6. BDAScott says:

nice…so far we have comments about students and drugs…neither of which were mentioned in the short article..

I know there are assumptions, but wouldnt it be better to write a lil less authoritatively at the moment?

  7. dtg says:

Come on people , really, there has to be more to this story,
Don’t jump to conclusions and knock down the Canadian customs for doing their job, You know how many people go through the Toronto airport a day… They had to see some kind of strange behaviour or something suspicious for them to detain these people.

    • Tough Love says:

Yes, because Canadian customs have never detained innocent people ever.

      • Hmmm says:

They may be innocent, but they were detained based on suspicion of something.
Generally they would let the plane go and arrest in Bermuda upon arrival, so I wonder what it was for.

  8. swing voter says:

    wow….WOW

  9. TSOL says:

They got detained for a reason, this is the real world with real cops, not the keystone cops we got here. All of you people defending them when you know absolutely nothing about the situation.

  10. Joonya says:

Maybe they were Bermudian Expats working in Toronto with full housing and expense allowances with additional benefits to cover for income taxes, and were probably travelling back with their 2 year employment earnings and left the landlords out of pocket for damages exceeding the rental deposits.. who knows…

  11. marcus says:

Yalls really living in the dark!!
Ya mess with D bull you get D Horns!!!
Deal with it now ya fools!!!

  12. bdaben says:

there is not enough information in the head line to start speculating theories, every one seems to be snow balling this as an excuse to argue and react, to fuel fictional fire.

  13. MAKE MY DAY says:

Possible drug smuggling – anyone?? There MUST have been some good reason for this action!!

  14. puma says:

their only crime is being young and foolish…I request and require, they be released to an adult representative of Bermuda forthwith.

  15. ShadyBda says:

Could be as simple as a bachelor party coming back still drunk n acting up. Love how we go straight to the smuggling though
