Jason Shrubb Named Squash Player Of Week
Bermuda’s Jason Shrubb — who is attending Bates College in Lewiston, Maine — has been named the Harrows Sports Men’s Squash Player of the Week by the College Squash Association [CSA].
The Bates College website said, “No. 14 nationally ranked Bates faced the 12th-ranked Midshipmen on Saturday at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. The Bobcats jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but Navy tied the team match at 4-4. The team match concluded with the No. 7s, which featured Shrubb and Navy senior John Hsu.”
Jason Shrubb takes on John Hsu earlier this month:
The CSA website said, ”In the fifth game, Hsu was awarded a stroke after accidentally hitting Shrubb with his racquet. Tied at 9-9, Shrubb regrouped and won the final two points to capture the individual contest [10-12, 11-6, 11-7, 7-11, and 11-9] and seal [the] team match for Bates.”
“Like the Bobcats, Shrubb was 2-1 on the week, including the Navy win, plus a point in Bates’ win over Amherst.”
Well done Mr. Shrubb – great determination and sportsmanship. A well deserved win.
What a true inspiration. Jason is a great member of Bermudas squash community and continues to prove year in and year out that he is one of the strongest players this island has. Hears to him sticking to the sport once he graduates. Fingers crossed he doesn’t get lazy and sitoff in Dockies getting wide open every weekend. yamon
