Rugby League Sees Men’s & Women’s Games

Recent Bermuda rugby action saw matches take place in both the women’s and men’s divisions, with two games played in each league.

Women’s League

Mariners 4 – Teachers 1

In this game, the Mariners, who clinched the league title last weekend, comfortably beat the Teachers. The Mariners got tries from Aleisha James, Andi Xiopoli, Amanda Swam and Deneka Borden, while the Teachers got tries from Lauren Rothwell.

Renegades 3 – Police 2

The Renegade Ladies upset a solid Police team to extend their winning streak to three games. The Renegades got tries from Rebekah Kofo-Kasumu [2] and Melissa Field, while the Police got tries from Jo Godfrey and Karin Coetzee.

Men’s League

Teachers 28 – Mariners 5

The experience of Nathan Brown, Anthony Cupidore, David Cook and Nick Ball, combined with the exceptional talents of Josh DeAllie, Cameron Caines and prolific try-scoring machine Jahneiko Francis, dominated the Mariners.

The Teachers got tries from Chris Stafford, Jahneiko Francis, David Porter, and Conor McGowan [4], while the Mariners got a try from Chakote Wainwright.

Police 32 – Renegades 19

The Police produced a bonus-point win against the Renegades to deny them the league championship and keep their hopes of retaining the title alive.

The Police got tries from Tommy Edwards [3], Adam Richards, Mike Hambert, and Paul Davis, with conversions from Dan Cole, while the Renegades got tries from Tom Healy, Bennett Gibson, and Paul Dobinson, with conversions from Brian Archibald [2].
