16 Year Old Student Charged: Drug Possession

March 25, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Mar 25], a 16-year-old student faced charges alleging he possessed cannabis, cocaine, and a digital scale .

Denying a defence counsel submission that the matters should be dealt with in Juvenile Court, and saying that the Court of choice was a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo required the high school student to plead to the three charges.

Wearing his school uniform, Calvin Wilson pleaded not guilty to possessing cannabis, cocaine, and possessing a digital scale that was fitted for use and intended for use with illegal drugs.

All three allegations stem from an early morning police intervention in St David’s in September 2014.

The Magistrate granted bail at $2,000 with one surety, and ordered the teenager to abide by a curfew. Trial was set for June 2015.
