June 4, 2015

The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, a Fairmont managed hotel, announces that Marcus Samuelsson will host a book signing of his new book, “Make it Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life”, and his cookbook, “Marcus Off Duty: The Recipes I Cook at Home”, on June 9 from 5pm-6pm in the hotel courtyard outside the restaurant Marcus’.

The new book is based on Marcus Samuelsson’s memoir “Yes, Chef!” and it is geared towards young adults. As the title suggests, “Make it Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life” tells the inspiring story of Marcus Samuelsson’s life and journey through the food world.

“Make it Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life” officially goes on sale on June 9, and in Bermuda it will be available for $16.99 exclusively at the book signing.

There will also be copies available for $35.00 of the recently published cookbook, “Marcus Off Duty: The Recipes I Cook at Home”. Published in October 2014, “Marcus Off Duty: The Recipes I Cook at Home” is the culmination of Marcus Samuelsson’s travels and cooking experiences over the past four years.

The book was written and photographed at Marcus’ home and includes recipes and photos of the chef’s favourite dishes. The book is illustrated by Illustrator Rebekah Maysles and includes photography by Paul Brissman capturing the cooking process, including Marcus cooking at home and the finished dishes.

“Marcus’ has been well received and we are thrilled to offer the public the opportunity to meet Marcus Samuelsson, who is spearheading our new restaurant,” said Allan Federer, general manager, The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. “I encourage his fans to join us on June 9 for a chance to meet Marcus and get a copy of his new book, signed by the chef.”

“I always look forward to visiting and getting the opportunity to meet the people of Bermuda,” said Marcus Samuelsson. “I’m especially excited to be on the island for the release of my new book, “Make it Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life”.

“As with my previous books, this one is personal and close to my heart. I recommend it for any young person interested in pursuing a culinary career and, more generally, for young people still figuring out their path in life.

“I hope that my story can empower young people to embrace their mistakes and to follow their dreams, no matter what their aspirations may be.”
