  1. The Dark Knight Returns says:

Tragic. I sincerely pray for this man to pull through. These incidents are becoming the norm.

    • I totally agree that we pray this young man makes it through, and not only do we pray this happens but I believe in the power of prayer.

So Heavenly Father in the name of your son Jesus Christ of Nazareth we come to you in on behalf of this young man and his family, we first of all ask for total healing and restoration to this young man’s body, let every organ and every tissue function into the perfection in which you created to function, let every area of his body that has been seriously wounded now react to the treatment that he is presently receiving in the hospital’s I.C.U ward, may the recovery be definite and healing be without delay.

We ask that your Super be put on our natural and that the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit be released for all divine protection, both in the spirit an din the natural, build a hedge of protection around this young man and his family, and let no weapon formed against him prevail. Father you get the glory out of this situation and may all guilty parties be held accountable for their actions, and may this young man in the wake of you sparing his life come to his senses, and be accountable for anything that he himself needs to confront. we ask this in the name of your son Jesus Christ and for his sake Amen.

  2. Oh no says:

Please speak up if you know. This is happening to often and no one comes forward. This needs to stop. We all need to put these dangerous people behind bars.
Praying for this gentleman and hope he recovers fast.
To his family and friends praying for you as well.

  3. Raymond Ray says:

“Let us call a spade a spade”. Why is it that most, (if not all) of these shootings occur in a community that is predominately populated by people of colour? The old saying, “your own fleas bite the hardest” couldn’t be more true than what we, (all) are witnessing here on the Island.
Once these individuals are caught, and are convicted then they mustn’t be given short prison sentences, (as we’ve been seeing.) Handout the maximum sentence under the Laws and if possible, increase the existing sentence to deter other “wanna-be-gangters” from following them already behind bars.

    • Truth Teller says:

Here we go again with the tea party style racism from Ray.

      • Toodle-oo says:

Look , like it or not everyone knows full well this is a local black issue .
Yeah , it impacts on all of us.

What was racist about his statement when it was simple fact ?
        Oh , that’s right , we don’t like facts around here .

Now show your hate at the facts by giving me 156 dislikes.

    • Seems it’s time for somebody to dust off their Confederate flag.

    • Onion juice says:

Because people of color have been Psychologically damaged for a few centuries, but you wouldn’t understand.
The systemic subliminal racism and denied social status that really has never been compensated nor fully addressed since the days of SLAVERY does have an effect on a handful of people that are lost, but the majority of US people of color are law abiding citizens who despite the years of being denied and overlooked in this subliminal racist Island have overcome and are proud of it.
But before you want to start to stereotype, don’t forget white people kill white people too and this society benefits them, so what’s their excuse.

    • PBanks says:

You must admit, that’s a pretty inflammatory comment Raymond. Really deflects from the crux of your statement.

      • A Sampson says:

And I guess ‘dust off your Confederate flag’ ISNT??

        • PBanks says:

Both statements are, but the first one set the proverbial train in motion. The second one wouldn’t have come into play if he wasn’t provoked in the first place.

But alas, it’s too late and this topic has already derailed into the usual race-based argument typical of everything else discussed in Bermuda. There’s already a political angle posted elsewhere in this thread so it’s pretty much complete. Everybody to their usual corners.

    • Verly says:

Somebody’s loved one is fighting for their life, and all you care about is race? I suppose in your eyes all white people are angels, and they never commit any crimes? Do you think this man’s family gives a rat’s behind about the color of the perpetrator? Would it have been easier to bear if a white person did it?
      You’re an old, racist fool.

  4. Just One says:

Today day one can be a murderer and the next day a victim! The cycle will continue until we create an environment where gangs do not and cannot exist.

  5. asfo says:

OBA failing to keep down gun crime. worse than the PLP.

hope victim pulls through and shooter is caught

    • Unbelievable says:

That is untrue. You’re just looking to mislead with misinformation.

  6. Terry says:

    Pay attention folks.
I don’t give a sheet what you think.
    Raymond is correct.

“The further a society doubts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it”.

    George Orwell.

    Shalom.

    • Whose version of the truth? Don’t try and paint an entire community with the same negative brush and then have the audacity to describe such nonsense as truth. When was the last time you read about a black person burning down a white church or brutally murdering nine white worshippers during Bible study? Using your distorted philosophy that would make whites more violently inclined then blacks now wouldn’t it? Timothy McVeigh, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy ring a bell?

    • Raymond Ray says:

@ Terry: Them that know me do know that I’m not about “heritage”, e.g. “black or white nor anyone in between.” When we can go to the records “and prove beyond a shadow of doubt” then what is there to oppose? If (which there are) people that don’t like me well, so-be-it.
I will always speak my mind and if wrong, then I stand to be corrected.

      • If you stand to be corrected then apologize to the black community for painting them all with the same brush for the wrongdoings of an extremely small, even infinitesimal minority. There are approximately 35,000 black Bermudians and perhaps 10 shooters please do the math!1 in 3500.

        • Raymond Ray says:

You are out of your mind Mr. Larry Marshall! Where had I painted everyone with the same brush?

          • “Let us call a spade a spade”? Have you any idea where that saying originated and why? Hint-others of lighter complexion were referred to as diamonds.

            • Family Man says:

              Do you?

The phrase originated in Classical Greece and was first translated into English in 1542. It has nothing to do with race.

But don’t let the facts knock that chip off your shoulder.

              • I’m talking about Bermuda circa 1940′s when it had every thing to do with race. But hey thanks for the ancient history lesson.

          • PBanks says:

By using the phrase “your own fleas bite the hardest” after pointing out that the places of the shootings were populated by “people of colour”, the insinuation could be made that the so-called black community en masse could be held responsible for these acts.

            • nuff said says:

Saying your own fleas bite you the hardest meant to me the gang members to gang members….Fleas to fleas biting each other.Nothing to do with Race.

  7. Heartisheavy says:

Just when you think it was over another incident of violence pops up. Secondly, why do we always put politics in the mix when it doesn’t have anything to do with the situ. I am sure neither the shooter or victim were thinking politics.

Do any of us ever stop think that both victim/shooter is a part of the community and are related to someone, maybe even to some who are making comments on here.

The sad part about all of this, is someone somewhere knows what happened, they knew before it happened and others know after is happened, but who is brave enough to put their hand up.

On the other hand, when a criminal mind is hell bent on committing a crime, no amount of crowd, police or any other security measures that are in place will not stop them, its like a man on drugs who cares not about what the outcome of his action(s) is or will be. What we as a civil society must do is ensure that when the person is caught he / she is dealt in the ambit of the law and be served on a silver platter what law deems is an appropriate sentence.

Once that is done, then we need to now shun the perpetrator and stop big them up on social media or in the media as seen elsewhere.

    • Terry says:

      See^’Heartisheavy’.
      Can you not comprehend?

  8. Big Eyes says:

Mr. Ray, why be so racist someone is fighting for their life and you write this crap!!

  9. Alvin Williams says:

It is true in this black majority country most of the violence has been committed by blacks against blacks; but I don’t think the white man has anything to boast about; they still have the record of white on white violence. World war one and world war two had more whites killing whites than any of the conflicts than or since or is it considered to have been so-called good wars?

  10. Jus' Wonderin' says:

Please pull through bra…you didn’t deserve this!

    • Hog fish hill says:

No he didn’t deserve this. Hopefully he pulls through and they catch the fool who did this. Prayers for my mate!!

  11. Real Talk says:

Rays right its a black thing with these shootings. Im black and not going to sugar coat anything. We are not in America so dont bring up police brutlity or the church burnings. Our black men are killin eachother on this island. We continue to do nothing as a community, We cry and have peaceful marches but sad reality is Bermudas small and we know whos in gangs but because their Family we turn a blind eye and blame slavery and the white man. Yes we come from slaves but that doesnt mean we cant grow and be productive. These Shooters are black and they are our family members. We doing the the supressors a favor by killin eachother over stupidness girls and drugs. We need to educate ourselves and stop lookin for handouts and free s***. get off our a**es and deal with our brats.

    • Oh an anonymous Ben Carson who Fox News loves to pimp out. Always amazes me how people talk about the need to get tough on crime while hiding behind a pen name. One thing that Bermuda needs when combating this problem is people with courage not cowardliness. At least Raymond Ray always uses his real name and for that I give him credit.

      • stunned... says:

oh, i see…we don’t like the message so we have to call the writer a “Ben Carson” as if that is to suggest that “Real Talk” is anything but a highly qualified, educated and intelligent Black man.

        now that is sad.

  12. Karen says:

Why are there gangs? One answer – drugs. Selling illegal drugs is a gang’s business and sole source of income. Around the world there are black gangs, Asian gangs, white gangs – any ethnicity you care to name but their commonality is to make money selling drugs. Race is of no consequence. So, if we are not comfortable with having the “legalizing drugs” conversation, somebody out there, if not a significant percentage of the population out there is buying and using the stuff – supply and demand (and again, race is of no consequence). So, the next time a person lights up a joint[or insert drug of choice] while shaking his head reading about another shooting, perhaps he should ask the question “I wonder if that person was shot so I could get high?”

    • smh says:

      wth r u talking about?

    • PettyBDAthinking says:

Karen you are lost. Its a good thing that opinions are just that and cant be considered fact. You do know many gangs deal in much more than drugs right? making it impossible for selling drugs to be their “sole purpose” gun trafficking. Humam trafficking, prostitution…just to name a few. And the rest of you comment continues to deteriorate…even back in the Mob…drugs were forbidden to be used or sold. They ran gambling and other businesses that had nothing to do with drugs. Educate yourself. Knowledge is power.

  13. conscientious objector says:

i actually know the person who got shot ..i came here for some solace …although he is not my family we are close, the man is no gang banger or gangster or rolls wit gangs ..hes a kool guy….it would be nice to see more comforting words, we know the plagues that plague our island , but we shouldnt let that ruin us into negative thinking …the scum who shot him will get caught ….but for now all we can do is offer prayers for the family and children

    • stunned... says:

best wishes for a speedy recovery for the shooting victim.

ps. this forum is hardly a place i’d recommend to find solace.

      • PBanks says:

Indeed. Best to the person, hope he comes through. Safe and speedy recovery to him.

Find solace and comfort with your loved ones, unfortunately the web can be a cruel place.

  14. had enough says:

Everyone talking about race in a negative dialogue – no problem.

Yet whenever Eva Hodson talks about the truth – ypu fools tell her to shut her trouble making mouth and state she is a relic of the past.

Well – it the elephant in the room

Listen to Raymond Ray et others – i.e. a** holes

  15. Sick & Tired says:

Thinking of my family at this time and praying that you pull through Cuz!!! It’s amazing that some people have all the answers but their only solution is to be on blogs spitting out their idealistic solutions and rationales. Why don’t YOU both DO something since apparently YOU have all the answers!!!!
