Jonte Smith Signs With Gloucester City Club
Gloucester City Football Club announced the signing of Bermudian striker Jonté Smith.
“Smith, 21, has most recently been plying his trade in Norway after signing from the Finnish first division side PS Kemi Kings where he scored 22 goals in 25 appearances,” the club said.
“Former Crawley Town boss Steve Evans signed Jonté to a 2 year contract in 2012 and Smith has made several appearances in the Football League for the Red Devils.
“After signing his contract, Smith was sent on loan to Met Police where he scored an impressive 24 goals in just 19 games during the first three months of the 2012/13 season.
“Smith has also spent time on loan at Havant and Waterlooville and Eastbourne Borough.
“Upon his return to England in June, Jonté has spent 10 weeks at a training camp that specialises in sprint training and physical conditioning.”
Commenting on the signing, Tigers boss Tim Harris said: “We are delighted to have signed a very promising striker that has played League football and scored goals wherever he’s been.
“Jonté is very ambitious and wants to get back into the Football League and he sees Gloucester City as an excellent platform to do this, especially after the recent transfer of Harry White to League One club Barnsley.
“There were clubs interested in Jonté however after meeting him and showing him around the City of Gloucester and the excellent facilities at Hartpury College he has decided to commit to Gloucester City.”
“We have been awaiting international clearance and are pleased to confirm this has now gone through in time for this Saturday’s fixture vs Gainsborough Trinity.”
Congratulations!!!
