Somerset Police Station Temporarily Closed

September 24, 2015

The Somerset Police Station will be closed immediately for “urgent repairs,” the police said today, adding that western officers will be operating out of the Dockyard Office.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the Somerset Police Station will be closed immediately for urgent repairs. As a result, western officers will be operating out of the Dockyard Office located at 2 Sally Port Lane, North Basin, Dockyard next to Makin Waves.

“A phone box will be affixed to the wall outside of the Somerset Police Station to connect the user to the Station Duty Officer who will be located at the Dockyard office. The Telephone number will remain 234-1010.

“Western residents will continue to see highly visible patrols officers in the Somerset area as well as the officer of the Western Community Action Team who will be out and about in the neighborhoods.”

Wasn’t this police station temporarily closed earlier this year?

  2. Raymond Ray says:

Keep it closed! It don’t seem to be of any assistance. Am I the only one who can recall the shootings around by Charring Cross? (a moment away from that station)It had taken the Police a really long time to respond to that event as it has with countless others?

      Raymond.
They were busy doing other things.

Only time one leaves a station is if someone is outside and needs help.

      Been here done that.

      Everything takes time.

      Even healing.

      Shalom.

    • Interesting says:

Riiight, because you want un-armed officers responding to a shots fired call. Heck, did they even have body armour at the time? Yes, we are trained to run toward gunshots and other trouble. But at least in the US we have the tools to respond.

My family ask me why won’t I come back and join BPS. Until every officer has a firearm that won’t be happening!

Once again, he speaks about that which he knows nothing about. SMH

I have two words for the idiots in government who are responsible for taking care of the buildings. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE.. to keep from occurring; avert; hinder…the act of maintaining. Try it..
