Photos: Ball Hockey Outback Cup Tournament

The Bermuda Ball Hockey Association hosted their Outback Cup Annual Tournament recently at the PCC Hockey Rink, with Team Sulley being crowned Champions following their 2 – 0 win over Team Hilton.

The Association’s match report said, “Even before the opening faceoff it was evident that the biggest battle of the day would be against the heat. Team Hilton came out strong and were the early favorites, whereas Sulley’s Gingers looked dejected upon realizing that their starting goalie, Sulley, was prone to letting in exceptionally weak goals. After only four round robin games the standing were set for the playoffs.

“Sulley’s Gingers faced Team Chevis in the semi-final and neither team would play their starting goaltender; Chevy was moved up to forward because of over-heating and Sulley got pulled because he was terrible. The tender swap paid off early for the Gingers as their renewed confidence led to them scoring more goals in the first half than in all prior games combined.

“A well-rested and undefeated Team Hilton was waiting for the Gingers in the final though. The Gingers were able to ride their momentum from the prior game for two goals in the first half and although Team Hilton came out fighting in the second it wouldn’t be enough as the Gingers claimed the 2015 Outback Cup with a 2-0 victory.”
