[Updated with photos] Boxing Day football action at Bernard Park today [Dec 26] saw teams looking for a win in either the Shield Semi-Finals or Friendship Semi-Finals.

X-Roads Warriors will advance to the Shield Final after their hard fought 4 – 3 defeat over Young Men Social Club after extra time.

X-Roads went in front in the 5th minute when Jorge Sanchez scored and the lead was doubled six minutes later when Travis Boyles scored. One minute later it was 2 – 1 when Robert Rawlins found the back of the net for the Young Men Social Club.

Rico Beek restored the X-Roads two goal lead when he converted from the penalty spot in the 21st minute. Corey Burgess pulled a goal back for Young Men Social Club in the 40th minute as the teams went to the break with the score 3 – 2.

The second half produced only one goal and that came from Zeiko Lewis as he drew Young Men Social Club level at 3 – 3 in the 81st minute.

With no further goals, the match moved into the extra-time period and after the first 15 minutes the score remained 3 – 3. One minute into the second period Jamin Furbert’s header caught the Young Men Social Club goalkeeper going the other way as he gave X-Roads the lead that they held onto and advanced.

Somerset Trojans advance to the Friendship Final after their 3 – 0 shut out playing Hamilton Parish Hot Peppers.

Right from the start the Somerset Trojans wanted to stamp their authority on the match and with Justin Donawa and Justin Corday both making their presence felt, the opening goal came in the 16th minute.

Donawa raced down the right flank and when he was confronted by two defenders he found Jenson Rogers whose cross was blasted home at the back post with an overhead kick by Leo Burgess.

In the 43rd minute Corday picked up the ball some 30 yards out, carried it some five yards before unleashing a right footed blast that gave Nigel Burgess in goal for Hamilton Parish no chance.

The Somerset Trojans took that two goal lead into the break. Donawa would get his name on the score sheet in the 52nd minute as the Somerset Trojans advanced to the Friendship Trophy Final with this 3 – 0 win over Hamilton Parish.
