2016 Bermuda International Aquathon Results
Tyler Smith and Ashley Estwanik won the 2016 Bermuda International Aquathon, which was held this weekend at Clearwater.
In the Men’s event, Smith held a lead after the 2.5K run clocking a time of 8:03, but his time of 14:58 during the 1000m swim saw him exit the water behind Olympic 10k swimmer Ky Hurst, who is a member of the full time professional sailing team Oracle.
Hurst clocked 13:19 on his swim and held a 28 second lead on Smith when he exited the second transition, only to have Smith hammer a time of 8:55 on the second 2.5K run to cross the line in a time of 32:07, with Hurst clocking 32:58. Pieter Dehart rounded out the podium with a third place finish clocking 34:37.

The female race was even more exciting with Estwanik as predicted the favorite during the first 2.5K Run coming into transition after recording a time of 9:01, however her swim was clocked at 20:39 and she came out of the water in fifth.
Alicia Hancock exited the water with the clock at 28:20, Eileen Mullowney was next out of the water with the time at 28:34 and Grace Morris emerged from the water with the clock on 28:46.
Estwanik came out at the 29:40 mark, but her time of 8:53 on the second 2.5K run proved the difference as she was clocked across the line in a time of 39:27, Hancock was second in 39:49 and youngster Lynsey Palmer was third stopping the clock with a time of 40:07.
Nicholas Pilgrim and Ashley Irby won the Male and Female 13 – 15 Year Old Age Group, Pilgrim covered the 2k Run, 400m Swim, 2k Run in a time of 18:46, with Irby finishing 3rd overall with a time of 20:18.
