‘Struggle, Sacrifice, Vision Demonstrated By BIU’
The PLP extended best wishes to the Bermuda Industrial Union on their 70th anniversary, saying that “21st century Bermuda owes much to the struggle, sacrifice and vision demonstrated by the BIU.”
A statement from the party said, “The Bermuda Progressive Labour Party extends best wishes to the Bermuda Industrial Union on their 70th anniversary.
“21st century Bermuda owes much to the struggle, sacrifice and vision demonstrated by the BIU, their leadership, executive, members and supporters as they continually pushed for a Bermuda that is fairer, more just and that truly works for all Bermudians.
“We join the people of Bermuda in marking this momentous occasion and wish BIU President Chris Furbert and the Bermuda Industrial Union much success and many, many more years of serving the interests of the workers of Bermuda.”

Another nauseating press statement from the plp!!!
The plp extended best wishes to the biu.
That’s funny. The plp IS the biu.
Congratulations to the B.I.U. and its friends and supporters on their 70th Anniversary.Congratulations to the P.L.P. Leadership for extending their well wishes.I am happy that the P.L.P.Party and the B.I.U. are inextricably joined together with The Peoples Movement to Place the Country back in the hands of the of True Bermudians to protect their interests first, and all other interests second.Al-hamdullilah,Allah -u-Akbar,La-ill-aha-ill-Allah,Muhammadur-rasullah.Peace.
“Back in the hands of the ‘True Bermudians????”
True Bermudians came to the island in the early 1600′s after the Sea Venture.
None of the “true bermudians” mentioned above were even here. You are in the same boat as Mrs.Winfield
and her husband.
E** you and your “True Bermudians”. You’re not a proper Bermudian.
Interested to know what the sherif means by real bermudian. I suspect I know. Pathetic.
I suspect the relationship between PLP and BIU is more strained than may appear on the surface. Lets not forget that Chris Furbert and Marc Bean were rival candidates for the seat vacated by former Premier E. Brown. Those two have not yet reconciled Beans victory which was heavily influenced by Brown, despite his apparent neutrality at that time.
Furbert now Co-Leads a separate political movement called “The Peoples Campaign” which commands the same support base as the PLP.
The Peoples Campaign have entered into an agreement with the OBA Government to reach consensus over the Pathways to Immigration initiative. PLP Leader Marc Bean stated that there would be “No collaboration with the OBA” and his party have vowed to object to any concessions given in regard to 2 or the 3 topics that the Govt. and PC have agreed to confer over.
This leads us to a potential mess if the identical support base of the PC and the PLP are asked to support potentially differing views of their 2 representative leaderships.
Happy birthday? I’m not so sure!
