Police Confirm Shooting Victim Has Died

[Updated: Police confirm that a 19-year-old man has died as a result of a shooting that took place at around 10pm on Upland Street in Devonshire]

The police are responding in the Devonshire area this evening [Oct 18], with unofficial reports suggesting what sounds like gunshots were heard. Confirmed details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.

Update 10.22pm: Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines confirmed that a firearms incident took place on Upland Street, and said it appears that one person was shot.

Update 10.41pm: We are expecting to receive a formal police statement later this evening, and will update with that as able.

Update 11.03pm: Police appear to be getting ready to do a briefing at the scene shortly, so we will update with that as able.

This marks the third violent incident in the past few days, following after the altercation in Southampton on Sunday, October 16th which resulted in two men being injured, and the shooting on Court Street on Thursday, October 13th in which a 24-year-old man was injured.
