A 39-year-old Sandys parish man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following a collision last night in Devonshire.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:45pm on Thursday, October 20th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Melville Crescent.

“Details remain unclear at this time. However, it appears that a car being driven along South Road struck a utility pole before colliding with another car being driven in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the first car, an 84-year-old Paget woman and her passenger, a 90-year-old Paget man, were injured. At last check she was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition while he was in stable condition on a general ward at the hospital.

“Both vehicles were damaged and a 39-year-old Sandys parish man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving in connection with the incident.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
