Minister Gibbons Trip To New York Cost $749

A trip in October 2016 by Economic Development Minister Dr Grant Gibbons to New York City to showcase recent developments in Bermuda’s asset management sector cost $749.06, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from Tuesday, October 04, 2016 – Wednesday, October 05, 2016, and the web page listing said, “The Minister led a delegation to New York City to showcase recent developments in Bermuda’s asset management sector.

“Attendees at the event included New York-area asset managers, corporate legal advisers and other fund-service professionals who were particularly interested in Bermuda’s new Limited Liability Company [LLC] legal structure.”

    That’s what we like to see. If only some of GG’s colleagues could show the same restraint, especially on accommodation. And that is definitely an economy seat.

    Let me be the first to state that I am a PLP supporter and I don’t like Grant Gibbons for reasons that I wont get into BUT I must say that he has gained a teeny bit of respect from me because I was on that flight and I can confirm that it was indeed an economy seat as he was seated just a few seats in front of me,not far away from the back of the plane. It actually looked a little awkward being the smartly dressed man that he is,he stood out like a sore thumb. for that Mr Gibbons,kudos to you!

    I truly believe they are not in it for the money but to get OUR COUNTRY back on its feet. Greed for money can really take over real fast if you don’t keep an eye on it. Keep it up OBA.
