A trip in February 2024 by Minister of Health Kim Wilson to Dubai cost $0, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from February 12, 2024 – February 14, 2024, and the web page listing said, “The Hon. Kim N. Wilson, JP, MP, Minister of Health attended the World Governments Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates 12-14 February 2024.

“The World Governments Summit is a unique platform for governments to participate and engage in a global discussion on shaping the future of humanity.

“Bermuda and the UAE face common challenges in our healthcare systems, including rising levels of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and cancer, as well as the growing strains on our healthcare systems from ageing populations.

“Bermuda’s strategy to combat these includes broadening healthcare accessibility, improving preventive care, and prioritising data analytics, a path the UAE has pioneered with its advanced digital health services. With the UAE and Bermuda striving to deliver efficient, accessible, and patient-centered care for our populations, this cross-continental dialogue will hopefully spark collaborations that enhance health outcomes and sustainability.

“As Bermuda and the UAE chart our respective healthcare futures, our shared challenges and opportunities pave the way for a collaborative journey towards better health for all.

“The Minister’s attendance was fully funded by the World Governments Summit.”

So the Minister’s trip was free, but what did her accompanying entourage cost Bermuda? Such detail, which involves taxpayer money, seems to be missing for overseas trips. Also why can’t Bermuda see and read what is said at these meetings? We know from guessing that what is said abroad is nothing close to what is said here.

This has to be a data error. Seriously?
Who picked up her expenses, and why did the Government not name the party? Why did no reporter ask?
