Junior Open Tennis Tournament From July 24-28
The 2017 Highland Spring Junior Open Tennis Tournament is set to begin on Monday, July 24.
The tournament, hosted by Pomander Gate Tennis Club and sanctioned by the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association, will see the island’s top juniors compete for national ranking points.
“Highland Spring and Butterfield & Vallis are pleased to be sponsoring this tournament for the 11th year,” said Terri Durrant, Advertising Manager at Butterfield & Vallis. “It’s great to see our future tennis stars in action and we encourage any budding athletes to come out and enjoy this fun competition.”
Ed Sousa, President of Pomander Gate Tennis Club, said “Pomander Gate Tennis Club is pleased to be working again with sponsors Highland Spring [Butterfield & Vallis] to present this popular and important junior tournament. The tournament is sanctioned by the BLTA and juniors are playing for valuable ranking points. Members of the public are invited to stop by the club to watch our juniors in action.”
Age groups include:
- Boys/Girls 8&Under, 10&Under, 12&Under, 14&Under, 16&Under, 18&Under Singles,
- Boys/Girls 12&Under and 18&Under Doubles
David Thomas, Pomander Gate’s Marketing and Communications Officer said, “Most juniors are constantly looking for tournaments to compete against their counterparts to begin separating themselves for future opportunities to broaden their tennis careers – this is a great platform for them to get out and showcase their development over the past school year.
Matches will be played daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with provisions in place for players who work and may have to play evening matches.
Entry forms are available online or physical copies can be found at Pomander Gate Tennis Club.
