September 16, 2018

Footballers in the Premier Division and First Division have all seen action recently, with the Flanagan’s Onions earning a win, while two other matches ended in draws.

St. George’s Colts 1 Somerset Eagles 1

The St. George’s Colts and Somerset Eagles shared the spoils at the Wellington Oval in a 1 – 1 draw. Sage Paynter gave the St. George’s Colts the lead in the 20th minute, however Anwar Telford equalized for the Somerset Eagles in the 70th minute.

Flanagan’s Onions 1 Vasco Da Gama 0

After a scoreless first half at the BAA Field, the Flanagan’s Onions would get a 58th minute penalty strike from Shaki Swan to defeat Vasco Da Gama 1 – 0.

Robin Hood 1 Devonshire Cougars 1

This game was an emotional one, as players came to terms with the loss of 20-year-old Mazhye Burchall, who tragically died in a road traffic collision earlier that day.

A moment of silence was held prior to the start of the match, which ended in a 1 – 1 draw, with Lejuan Simmons scoring for Robin Hood in the 42nd minute, however an own goal in the 81st minute by a Robin Hood defender earned the Devonshire Cougars a point.
