Police Confirm The Death Of Mazhye Burchall

[Updated] Emergency services responded to a collision on South Road in Paget this morning [Sept 15] where a motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a wall, according to police.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “Police and other first responders attended a report of a serious road traffic collision that took place on South Road in Paget, just 100 meters west of the South Roundabout at 3:55am Saturday morning.

“Details are still unfolding but It appears that the male rider of a motorcycle, was traveling on South Road in Paget when it appears that he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a wall in the area of the Railway Trail.

“As a result, he was taken to the hospital via ambulance where his condition is presently listed as serious.

“The road has been cordoned off whilst the scene is being processed by the relevant officers.”

Update 9.20am: The police confirm that a “20-year-old male has died as a result of the collision that took place this morning.”

Update 10.25pm: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the death of 20 year old Mazhye Burchall who died as a result of a road traffic collision that took place at 3:55am on Saturday morning on South Road in Paget, 100 yards west of the Trimingham Hill roundabout.

“Mazhye was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist his family during this difficult time.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who can assist with the last movements of the deceased to please contact PC Wilkinson on 295-0011.

“This is the 9th road fatality for 2018 and the Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mazhye.”
