Football: Premier, First Division Weekend Results

Footballers in the Premier and First Division were all in action this weekend, with Somerset Eagles, St. George’s Colts, St. David’s, Dandy Town Hornets, Devonshire Cougars, and BAA all earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.

First: Flanagan’s Onions 1 Devonshire Colts 1

At the BAA Field, the Flanagan’s Onions and Devonshire Colts played to a 1 – 1 draw, Charles Trott gave the Devonshire Colts the lead in the 11th minute, only for Treshun Smith to equalize for the Flanagan’s Onions in the 53rd minute.

First: Hamilton Parish 1 Somerset Eagles 2

Somerset Eagles all but secured promotion as they defeated their nearest rivals for the second spot in the Division, Hamilton Parish, at the Wellington Oval, and they did so by coming from behind.

Shayne Hollis gave Hamilton Parish the lead in the 35th minute, but with five minutes remaining Cofield Robinson leveled the match at 1 – 1 when he found the back of the next, and then in stoppage time a strike from Tahj Wade earned the visitors all three points.

First: Young Men Social Club 0 St. George’s Colts 1

On a tough Police Field pitch, visiting St. George’s Colts came away with a 1 – 0 win over Young Men Social Club.

The lone goal of this game came in the 15th minute when Jahkai Brangman found the back of the net.

First: Vasco 0 Ireland Rangers 0

The bottom two clubs in the Division, Vasco and Ireland Rangers, played to a scoreless draw at the Bernard Park.

First: Wolves 2 St. David’s 4

St. David’s traveled to the Garrison Field to face off against Wolves and they would come away with a 4 – 2 win. Kontai Burton scored twice for St. David’s while Justin Pitcher and Jamal Woodley added a goal each. Mathew James Mello-Cann and Steven Almeida scored a goal each for Wolves.

Premier: North Village Rams 2 Dandy Town Hornets 6

The Dandy Town Hornets travelled to the Bernard Park and defeated the North Village Lady Rams 6 – 2.

Angelo Simmons would lead the charge for the Dandy Town Hornets scoring 4 times, while Jahnazae Swan and Eusebio Blankendal added a goal each, and Azendae Furbert and Che’kai Caisey scored a goal each for the North Village Rams.

Premier: Paget Lions 0 Devonshire Cougars 1

After a scoreless first half at the Southampton Oval, visiting Devonshire Cougars got a strike from Shakai Pearman as they defeated the Paget Lions 1 – 0.

Premier: BAA 1 Somerset Trojans 0

BAA proved to be the only home team to win this weekend as they defeated visiting Somerset Trojans 1 – 0 at the BAA Field.

The lone goal of this game came in the 85th minute as Keishen Bean converted from the spot.
