Smith Wins Ironman Santa Rosa Age Group
Bermuda’s Karen Smith has won her Age Group competing in the Ironman Santa Rosa in Sonoma County in Northern California.
Smith clocked an overall time of 10:47:36 finishing 154th overall out of 1,581 competitors, she was the 12th female to cross the line overall, and it was in Women’s 50 – 54 Age Group that Smith finished on top of the podium.
The event started with a 2.4-mile, 2-lap swim in Lake Sonoma that saw Smith clock a time of 1:04:44.
Smith then recorded a time of 5:53:58 during the 112-mile, 2-loop bicycle ride through the Alexander, Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys.
The last portion of the triathlon was a 26.2-mile, 3-loop run along the Santa Rosa Creek Trail between Fulton Road west of Santa Rosa and Courthouse Square in downtown Santa Rosa that saw Smith compete in a time of 3:39:21.
