BNG Announces New Trustee & New Director

The Bermuda National Gallery [BNG] has announced the addition of Joel Whitehurst to the Board of Trustees of the BNG and also welcome Eve Godet Thomas to the organization as Director of Programming and Engagement.

A spokesperson said, “BNG is delighted to welcome Bermudian, Joel Whitehurst to the Board of Trustees of the BNG.”

“Chairman Gary Phillips said, “With the ever-changing and rigorous demands placed upon registered charities to demonstrate how they manage the financial support received from various sources, it is extremely important to have in place a very experienced team to meet these new standards.

“Mr. Whitehurst brings to the BNG a broad financial background in both re-insurance and investments and as such will be responsible for guiding the financial decision-making in the role of Treasurer. This function was previously held by BNG Trustee Gregory Houts who remains on the Board not only to assist with the transition but also to further promote the programmes that the BNG brings to the community.”

Mr. Whitehurst said, “I am honored to be named a Trustee of the Bermuda National Gallery and am pleased to aid in the journey and mission of the Gallery as Treasurer.”

The spokesperson said, “BNG is also excited to welcome Eve Godet-Thomas to the organization as Director of Programming and Engagement.

“Bermudian, Godet Thomas brings a wealth of experience to the organization having spent over 15 years working locally and internationally in organizational development as well as branding and marketing for established companies and start-ups.”

Executive Director, Peter Lapsley said. “Ms. Godet Thomas’s engagement and interest in developing authentic partnerships, as well as her experience in organizational development will directly and positively impact all aspects of the BNG’s operations, including programming, exhibitions, community outreach and development. We look forward to adding her unique vision to the BNG team.”
