Lawrence Scott Appointed As Temporary Minister
MP Lawrence Scott was sworn in as the temporary Minister for Tourism and Transport, and he will serve as the temporary Minister for the next ten days while the Minister of Tourism and Transport is travelling.
A Government spokesperson said, “Member of Parliament Lawrence Scott was sworn in as the temporary Minister for Tourism and Transport at Government House on Friday, 10 January 2020.
“Mr. Scott will be the temporary Minister for the next 10 days while the Minister of Tourism and Transport is travelling.”
“The constitution of Bermuda allows the premier to appoint a person who is a member of the House of assembly or the senate as a temporary minister to act in the case of when a substantive minister is away from Bermuda,” said Premier David Burt.
“This constitutional provision is not new, though it has not been previously used, however given the size of our Parliamentary Majority, I’ve decided to use this as an opportunity to allow members of the Legislature to develop professionally when a minister is travelling for a long term.”
“Previously the only other temporary minister who has been appointed was Neville Tyrrell.”
Amazing.
What exactly is the minister without portfolio doing that wee need to appoint a temporary minister. Or is Lawrence just short of a a little cash this month?
Spread the wealth!
You just worry about the clown aka Jet Gate in charge of the oba/UBP. lol
Hows about you , or anyone , address the REAL jetgate ?
Selective amnesia is a terrible thing to suffer from .
Jetgate is all you’ve got. It pales into insignificance against the antics of the PLP. But you don’t or won’t see that, will you?
I can’t believe the OBA has this man as leader. It’s actually sad.
Another ‘secret shopper’ cruise?
10 days? Seriously?
Can you just run the country please.
Friends and Family
Dear Sir please remove the 2 flip flop UBP Ministers from your Cabinet permanently so that PLP MPs can develop professionally over the long term and not just for 2 weeks
Burch should be the first to go.
“… I’ve decided to use this as an opportunity to allow members of the Legislature to develop professionally when a minister is travelling [sic] for a long term.”
We used to appoint people who already knew what they were doing. The times, they are a changing.
A signal that Zane’s days are numbered as a Minister?
For 10 days… Really? With a pay hike?
Love it!
Friends and family filling their pockets with taxpayers’ hard earned cash.
Love it!
Plp. Always finding a way to reward their own.
Same way you reward the surrogates in the oba=UBP.
