Manders Tennis Championships Finals Held
The Manders Tennis Management Championships came to an exciting end at the Fairmont Tennis Courts.
Gavin Manders was on the court for the final facing off against his Davis Cup teammate Tariq Simons.
Manders jumped out to an early lead in the first set 3 – 0, but Simons would fight back to win six of the next seven games to take the first set 6-4.
The second set saw Manders use his experience to overcome a battling Simons to win the second set 6-4 and level the match at 1 – 1.
The third set saw 18-year old Simons and Manders lock into another battle, but Simons would win the set 6 – 4 and bring to an end a match that lasted over three hours.
Hugh Seymour defeated Andrew Paynter in straight sets 6 -0, 6-2 to claim the Open B Division title.
Hugh won the Open A Division Consolation Final defeating Morgan Lightbourne in a three set battle 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.
Kirsten Saltus won the Open B Division Consolation Final when she defeated Victoria Stephens in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 10-4.
