Daren Bascome Bermuda May 2020Bermudian Daren Bascome — CEO of Proverb, a multidisciplinary branding agency in Boston — has received the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Award for Leadership.

A spokesperson said, “The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce will recognize six small businesses for their contributions to the region, their customers, employees, and communities.

“Each year, the Chamber’s Small Business of the Year [SBOY] Awards acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of Greater Boston’s for-profit companies with fewer than 500 employees.

“Bascome is honored in the CEO Leadership category as ‘an executive who demonstrates exemplary leadership that has made a tangible, positive difference within their organization,’ according to The Chamber.”

Mr. Bascome said, “The whole team at Proverb deserves this award. We aim to treat each other with the same kind of respect, concern, and desire for excellence that we bring to our client interactions, and it pays off in the quality of work we’re able to create.”

The spokesperson said, “The Greater Boston Chamber states that the award honors small businesses that are the engine behind our region’s economy. According to the Small Business Administration’s most recent profile, small businesses account for 99.5% of all Massachusetts businesses and employ 1.5 million people.

“For over 35 years, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce has recognized the vital contributions, economic impact, and cultural influence of small businesses.”
